Gee... THANKS!!
Greetings, JH Lifers. Just in case you missed it, this website will be closing down on December 31st. It's been a great journey, but it is time for this site to walk off into the sunset (or whatever lies on the other side of the BQE). Please see our recent announcement for more information.
Hopefully this is just the beginning of a new chapter in efforts to build community online and in real life. Come join your neighbors at r/jacksonheights or r/queens on Reddit, Jackson Heights 11372 on Facebook, and the venerable JHfamilies group on Google.
This section allows you to view all posts made by this member. Note that you can only see posts made in areas you currently have access to.
I'm curious how it worked out too. We always have a task or two for a handyman, but I've had no luck finding one!
I am a woman and I walk by there every day. The men that congregate there have never been anything but polite to me. They don't catcall women.
I walk down Roosevelt to the subway every morning... and not a day goes by that a couple of them don't catcall. I don't take the subway home when it gets too late because there are always men hanging around there then, also. I'm simply walking by and not bothering them, so I don't know why they feel the need to talk to me. They make kissing noises as well.
They were never put into Federal custody, which could have lead to deportation.
I am outraged.
Tip: Place vaseline on legs of mattress.
Have you tried "Big Boys" bar on 75th and 31st Avenue across from Danta's near the shopping center? They have good wings there (or at least they did) I haven't been there in a long time! Hey and from what I remember this is a good bar to hangout at and kick back but, its a long walk if you live near 37th Ave.
I go hiking/camping in Harriman State Park, NY. You can get there by taking NJ Transit from Penn Station to Tuxedo, but I also like to drive there on the Palisades Parkway.

Oh no you isn't.
If I need something done that is not building-related, I call Handyman-B. At least I know it will GET done, get done correctly, and I don't mind being given a rate to pay when I call on him. The fee is always fair and reasonable, and the problem is rectified correctly.
Are you saying, people don't tip you often? That's horrible. In my building the Super always gets tipped when he does work that's not part of his regular duties.
I base $20 on the fact that it probably took about 30 minutes, max, to put in the unit. But the Super still had to get his tools, lift the unit, drill in the screws, make sure it was secure etc. That's worth $20. And I still give money at Christmas every year because my Super takes packages when people aren't home from delivery people (they don't have to) and helps out in too many ways to count.
Never heard of The Boondock Saints. Looked it up on imdb and STILL never heard of it!
