For most of us apartment dwellers, Time Out New York has a list of areas throughout New York City where outdoor grilling is permitted.  Here's the link for Queens locations:

hey, if I end up getting this Cottage in Conn., that's where I'll be escaping to every weekend until (A.) hell freezes over, (B) I retire and decide to go somewhere else or (C) I hit the lotto and buy MORE TO SATISFY MY LUST FOR HOME OWNERSHIP.

My avatar shows the sun setting over the L.I. Sound. That view is at the end of the block of my dream Cottage. Pretty.

I dunno.  It looks like a nice enough view, but without your poodle in the photo, something's just missing.

I go hiking/camping in Harriman State Park, NY. You can get there by taking NJ Transit from Penn Station to Tuxedo, but I also like to drive there on the Palisades Parkway.

How's the camping there?   I take my canoe up there when I have time and find it a little busy with the public beaches and summer camps.   I don't have the time and gas money to drive far enough into the 'Dacks to get some piece and quiet.

todd that's hysterical.  if I get this cottage, that's exactly what the view will look like... sunset and dog!   Excellent work.

Now that's a great escape.

Of course, you could also try this version...

It degrades the view a bit, but on the plus side, you won't have to sit in traffic, and you'll save on gas money!

I had no idea flickr was so much fun.  I use photobucket.

Now I have to go back to an avatar of my doggie.  You've made me realize the error of my ways! heheheheheeh

My escape from JH in the summer is Breezy Point and Belle Harbor.  These are the beaches I like to go to. They aren't to far from JH's and they are kept up nicely.  For a longer drive,  I really enjoy Cape Cod to.

I also like to take a ride up to Westchester and Rockland County and drive around the different areas there.  I don't go that far away from home but, I do enjoy these areas.  There are many nice parks and restaurants to go to.
