A sign in the window also states that they are donating ALL of today's proceeds to a fund at Elmhurst Hospital Center. A very nice gesture I think, and one that will probably induce me to order at least one slice on my way home tonight to give them a try.

It looks nice and donating today's proceeds to the hospital is a very nice gesture.  Am I wrong in being concerned about ordering food  from this subway station since the tracks below are filled with rats?

I dont think it's a huge deal about the subway being beneath them in regards to cleanliness. Maybe just the rattling would shake some pipes loose or something. I'd more worry about putting small businesses out of business and keeping people in crappy jobs. Also, I dont think your real estate value is going up because of it. well... Donald trump likes it...

It's at the street level on the corner of 75th Street, a good several stories above the subway tracks, and probably better situated in that regard than many places in Manhattan even.

I'd be more concerned about ordering from one of the places off of 74th street where rodents are rampant than I would about this pizza place on the ground level of the subway. While there are exceptions, most of these large chain places adhere strictly to dept. of health regulations .

NY1 did a really nice piece on the opening yeseterday.  The pizza looked a lot better than I expected (I've never eaten at one of these places) and they have 50 people working there.  jeff, I know you think they are crappy jobs, but they actually pay better than a lot of other food service positions and have high employee satisfaction numbers.

Did Famiglia force out the taco carts?

they were trying to, and it looks like they've mostly succeeded. can't blame them. if someone is offering good food that's cheap and prepared with care and gusto right in front of your bland fast food joint, why would you allow them to operate within their legal rights?

I wonder what they did to get the food trucks to move. I hope that they don't see too much of a drop in business. I've seen most of them across 75th St (on both sides of the street) so they're still around. But what about the coffee/donut cart that was there in the morning? Haven't seen that for a while.
