Don't know if many are familiar with Trieste on Northern Blvd. just east of 73 street. It's owned by two brothers and has been in the neighborhood for years. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is pleasant enough on the inside and the food can be very good, a lot better than Armondo's in my opinion.

Much better in spots. I liked it better back in the early to mid 90a when they had more istrian stuff (like pasta in grappa ) but it is a very nice place to have a meal

They signed a lease in May 2011 and they're still haven't opened.  I looked in the window last night and still lots of work needs to be done before they can open.  Has work completely stopped?  I haven't seen any progress in the last six months or more.  I imagine they regret signing a lease and doing business with the City.

It's a pizza parlor in a transportation hub. No one is expecting fine Mediterranean  dining. It's a place to grab a slice on the way to Laguardia or to work.

I agree with those who are happy that's there's a retail presence her, a light on.

They should open up a stage and a bar in there. Let all the fantastic worldly musicians that play in the subway play there while we can grab a beer and and get on the subway...what an ideal Subway Superstation that would be...Short Michael Jackson impersonator at 2pm, Andean fusion at 3 pm, Bhangra at 4pm....Jax Heights Bar and Pub at 74th and Roosey!

having something in there is definitely a plus.

i'd prefer a pizza hut, though. the quality is several notches above famiglia.

I'm definitely not going to complain.. if they were open really late or 24hr it would be a great presence.

The paper came down finally and it looks like the pizza place is for real.  About time.  I wonder how long til it opens.

maybe they're waiting until they can get enough pies delivered for their grand opening.

They're going to do fine.  With the amount of traffic going through that transit complex and now the Q70 to the airport they don't really need return customers to turn a handsome profit.

On the brighter side, their presence will light up a rather dark corner of the neighborhood.

I looked in last night at about 6 thru a small opening in the brown paper covering the windows.  The place is ready to open and it will be very soon.  Lots of employees were inside getting the place ready for its grand opening.

The paper has been removed from the windows, they were in there setting up today.
