CrabbyPatty:  I'm so pleased you posted your comment.  On Thursday, I had lunch with someone who is supporting Peralta and I made the same comment.  I was coming out of the Post Office late this morning and a Peralta supporter was handing out leaflets and bad mouthing Monserrate.  This most likely was an isolated situation but it happened.  With an expected low turnout, its possible Monserrate could win.

somehow, i doubt that peralta could manage to beat (no pun intended) being a convicted violent criminal, a proud homophobe and the recipient of an illicitly received pension.

marlene, with all due respect, when folks discuss OJ Simpson, they don't talk about his 2000 yard rushing season. the things i brought up about mr. monserrate are as relevant as anything he did while serving -- as both a republican and a democrat -- in the senate.

All the hot air expended on the negative should be used on the positive.  I think Peralta should stop slinging mud and start enlightening the people in the community what he can do for us!  IMHO I find all this back biting a negative on Peralta's part.

There is supposed to be a Candidate's Night at IS 145 on Thursday.  I am so interested to hear what they all say and REALLY curious to see if Hiram has the huevos to show up in our community and be forced to answer some questions, especially about his recent anti-gay stance.  I seriously doubt it.

is it really "back biting" to talk about the record of a candidate?

is it slinging mud to note the criminal convictions on the part of a candidate?

is it wrong to point to literature in which one candidate calls another a homosexual and suggests that said candidate would destroy society as we know it if elected?

none of the things mentioned about mr. monserrate falls into the realm of rumor or innuendo. if anyone believes a convicted violent criminal deserves their vote, they should cast their vote for that convicted violent criminal.

Is candidates' night Wed. the 10th or Thursday the 11th?  The JHBG's website says the 10th but I saw an email elsewhere that said the 11th.
