All I am saying is that we want to hear more positive than negative.  I think those who love Peralta will vote for Peralta and those who like Monserrate will vote for him regardless of the mud slinging which IMO only hurts Peralta and makes him look petty in the process.  Let the candidate's records speak for themself!  The people in JH are not as ignorant as many assume that they are.

and all i am saying is that it is not "mudslinging" to describe what a candidate has actually done in the past -- and is doing in the present.

if there is any mud on mr. monserrate, he spread it on himself.

marlene, with all due respect, when folks discuss OJ Simpson, they don't talk about his 2000 yard rushing season. the things i brought up about mr. monserrate are as relevant as anything he did while serving -- as both a republican and a democrat -- in the senate.

best,
deb

Deb,

I understand the importance of sharing information, but the back and forth is just "Dirty Politics".  And I can't decifer the truth as it relates to all the information being released whether taking one side or the other.  Today, I was walking down the avenue and overheard that both Peralta and Monserrate's office have been vandalized.  So if that is accurate information, why is that not being reported?

So I will continue to post, and reply to myself (talk to myself) on the Puerto Rico thread.  It's less annoying to me.   ::)

Best,   :smiley6600:

didn't mean to be annoying, Marlene.

i thought we were having a good, solid debate.

i hadn't heard about the vandalism....but sadly, it doesn't surprise me. this is a very passionate election, and i wish people would channel that passion in a more healthy manner.

do take care and again, i meant nothing personal to anyone here.

Is candidates' night Wed. the 10th or Thursday the 11th?  The JHBG's website says the 10th but I saw an email elsewhere that said the 11th.

This is from JHBG.org
JHBG Candidates' Night
March 10; 7:30 p.m.; IS 145 (80th Street between Northern Boulevard and 35th Avenue)
Candidates for the March 16 special election in Senate District 13--Hiram Monserrate, Jose Peralta, and Robert Beltrani--have been invited.

I have just received an email from a New York Times reporter indicating that the candidates are arriving to the event on
Thursday, and not on Wednesday, even though the Jackson Heights Beautification Group says Wednesday on its Website. Just thought I should let you know.

Ignoring all the glass, court convictions, etc. Can someone please list the GOOD things that Hiram Monseratte has accomplished since his election to the state senate.

And also, please list the accomplishments of Jose Peralta.

Have they been effective in their roles?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Now this is a post that I have been looking forward to.  Can we gather and post the positive information on what both politicians have done throughout their political career.

Chuckster alerted us in another thread that the info on the JHBG's site now states that the event is the 11th.

and i am sorry, but "ignoring court convictions" isn't something we should be doing when considering electing an official. heck, write in joel steinberg's name if you want to do that. he was a smart man.

Convictions, glass, and a denial of equal rights are the issues. That they even allow a forum for this idiot to speak is beyond me. How patronizing. I'm sure that if they were denying equal rights say... to Puerto Ricans...that they would remain quiet and polite and listen to "the accomplishments" of each candidate. I for one Will be at the meeting, and I will NOT be quiet or polite.

Ms. Puerto Rico here wants to know where we can gather and post the positive information on what both politicians have done throughout their political career.

Perhaps, all three politicos can submit their accomplishments.

Off to catch up on my beauty sleep!   ::)
