"DIVA's want it all.  Attention when we walk into the salon, no waiting period, inexpensive prices, complete massage, lovely music playing in the background, tea served (not too hot), no female chatter in the background, light salad served after treatment, and the limo waiting outside.  LOL.  I know, as I'm a true DIVA, but I may have to hand you my DIAMOND TIARA!!  I think it's time!!!   ::)

You call yourself Divanatrix so I utilized a portion of your name, and I made light of it.  If anything I was making fun of myself as I want these services when I walk into 78th Nail Spa.  Sorry you don't have a sense of humor.  Nothing about the post was meant to be offensive.  And therefore, you are correct.  I was joking!!!   ::)

Anyway, in moving on, if anyone needs a good back massage, Sylvia, at 78th Street Spa is excellent.  A 20 minute back massage is $20.

Best,

I don't feel that you know me enough at all to "joke" with me in that manner - nor do I believe you were really joking.  It's convenient to state that after the fact, but the eye rolling icon says it all.  Regardless, I have let it go.

Back on topic.

Surprise to end all surprises.  I actually went to Tsering tonight and I'm very glad that I did.  The extra dollars were well spent and resulted in a lengthly pedicure in a relaxing atmosphere. - not an assembly line  Most happily, they have a great color selection - there are reds, pinks, purples, greens, blues, oranges etc. not 500 shades of light pink like many places.  Not to say that they have walls and walls of polish - they have one shelf of 4 or 5 rows, but I think their selection would make anyone happy.

The woman that took care of me took her time and did an excellent job.  The owner was very nice and helpful - eager to please customers.  I look forward to seeing the business succeed.  I hope it gets more crowded though - it seems like they offer a lot of haircut/styling options that ar not yet being taken advantage of.  I can eat my words. ;)

Angel Tips in the JH Shopping Center - manicures and pedicures -$12 (both together) Mondays-Thursdays 9:30-2:30 -very good.  I just walk in but it it best to make an appointment.  Also in the same shopping center there is a new hairdresser - very good - inexpensive - cannot recall name but it is next to the MRI place.

Sorry - I wasn't finished.

Marlene -WTF is this crap anyway?

I really don't appreciate your hurtful and absolutely undeserved comments towards me personally and I won't stand for them.  If you want to talk about the TOPIC without attacking me - fine. Otherwise GTFO.

I never insinuated that I expect those things.  Go roll your eyes elsewhere.  And maybe stop Private Messaging people so you can protect Hiram Monserrate.  That was really freaking annoying, if you want to know.  Why don't you publicly kiss his ass?

I am happy to meet with you in person to discuss any issues that you may have.  My number is 917-208-6709, my email address is marleneflores25@yahoo.com, and my home number is 718-803-9847.  We can discuss all topics including beauty treatments which is really my favorite topic of discussion.   ::)

My kids are constantly rolling their eyes at me. Which one would you like me to use?   :smiley6600:

Also, regarding haircuts in the 'hood try Ingrid's.  Everyone there is pretty terrific.

If you would like to focus on something important:
Here is a link to information on a little girl that needs a heart transplant.  Her grandmother is a JH store owner.

I know someone who went to a new place yesterday, Mary's Dominican Salon #1

Very well done manicure and pedicure for $15

They had their grand opening on Monday, they are located just off Roosevelt Avenue and 83rd Street, across from the UPS Store.

Marlene-

Thanks for further derailing the thread.  I request for a mod to delete all unrelated postings (my own responses included.)  I don't want to speak with you personally. I don't appreciate the private message you sent me with your telephone numbers and address and the diagnosis you gave me of "having anger issues."

You are not the puppetmaster of the board, and your private messages will not change my behavior (On this or badmouthing a violent political figure - or anything else.)   Freely pasting your personal information all over the place does not make you "correct."

Please don't send me any more private messages.  I will not respond to them.

All I wanted to do was start a discussion on neighborhood services, but now I fear this thread is ruined thanks to your personal attacks and backpedaling about them.  Congrats.

-Jennifer

The original mani/pedi post was critical to those establishments already in existence.  I moved on with DIVA's want it all!  I'm a true DIVA, but I made fun of your DIVANATRIX list serve name.  You know it was a joke, but you got angry, so I asked that you contact me so we could discuss.

In the meanwhile, I just found out that there is a greater issue at hand.  A JH storeowner has her little grandchild at Columbia-Presbyterian and needs a heart transplant, so I think we should focus on important things.  I'm sure you would agree!!

Best,

"78 Nail & Spa"
"Pedicures -
I've only been to 78 Nail & Spa in this hood.  I've gone about 4 times and had someone different each time.  I really really like the sander - but I really hate that every single time I go there are 3-4 people in front of me and then on top of that someone comes in and has an appointment.  It takes forever. (I'd make an appt - but I don't "love" any of them"  Also when you walk in, nobody acknowledges your presence AT ALL - no greeting, no nothing."
"Facials-
I've been to the place on 37th Ave & 80th (mostly does threading) for their facials.  It's no frills, but cheap.  I prefer when one of the older women does the facial - but I feel it would be rude to say so, so I just deal with whoever.
The last time I went, the girl annoyed me and I haven't been back.  So... I'm looking for other options."

Has anyone every tried the place on 82nd Street right off 37th? It's literally on the corner of my block but have never been.  I have been going to the place on the corner of 37th and 81st. Just wondering if they're better since it would be convenient for me?

For hair, may I recommend Memo at Elite Hair Salon on 77th south of 37th.  Oscar at Oscar DaSilva is great too! He just bobbed my hair not too long ago and I was very pleased!

As for massages, I've been meaning to try the new place on 37th at 86th (I believe?) They only do massages, and in a very zen atmosphere it seems, I might add.  There's something I like about that.

Why couldn't the "off topic" comments from the previous page be removed?

Right now the thread is a disaster.  I'm very uncomfortable with the attacks towards me being left up, to be honest.  I feel weird making any more "real" comments in the thread without being perceived as a demanding bitch.

I was under the impression that the off topic comments were being removed whilst the thread was in "limbo".

[Moderator's Note: The moderators did not edit the thread because after extensive discussion we concluded that the forum's rules were not broken.  In the early days of this board, the JH Life community expressed a strong preference for self-policing over heavy-handed moderation.  We try to walk a line that respects this preference using the forum's Rules as our guiding document in doing so.  However, as JH Life evolves, we are always open to discussion and revision of these rules.   Anybody is welcome to start a thread proposing possible changes to the Rules.]

Are you referring to the place next to the parking garage? If so, I went there once. I only speak a leettle kitchen Spanish and no one there spoke English, but they were nice and accommodating and my pedicure lasted a long time.

I used to go to Ingrid's because it's across the street from me. (Plus they have massage chairs!) I stopped going because a couple of months ago, I went in and asked for a pedicure. The guy at the counter went to ask the ladies who were chit chatting away in the back. He came back and told me "No." Not as in, "Not right now. Please have a seat and wait." Just flat out "No." In the middle of a work day. I guess they don't want my business/tips.

As for hair, I like edgy, modern cuts. So I either go into Manhattan or Astoria. There's an affordable Aveeda salon on 40th Ave.

That's exactly the sort of treatment I dread. :embarassed:

Oooh, I hate the pink-only places. I love lots of color.

Did they have trashy magazines in English?
