I'm pretty sure there's a Tsering salon on the north side of 37th Avenue, between 74th & 75th Streets (approx.)

To all:

Today I had the perfect beauty salon experience which included the hair color, wash, cut and blow.  Please note the color was for the roots only, the wash included massage and conditioner, and the cut was for my long hair.  The service was excellent and I found the price to be reasonable.

Location:  Vincent's on 76th closer to 37th Avenue
Hairstylist:  Freddie
Total:  $65

Best,   :smiley6600:

Another wonderful facial at Million Minks, located on Roosevelt between 79th and 80th Streets.

Marion and Betsy spend plenty of time with you and they will give you a face and shoulder massage that is out of this world.  Expect to be there for about two hours.

Expense:  $80 (including tip)

Diva,

Thanks for recommending Tsering!

I went for the first time today for a pedicure. This is going to be my new spot.

Yay FoxyWiles!  I'm so glad you agree. :D

I was just there again on Saturday and got some pretty blue toenail polish at the end of my kickass pedi.  The girl I had this time was different - I don't know what her name is but she's a young college student studying architecture - very sweet and she did a great job.

I also got my eyebrows waxed and that was done very well.  This woman puts on false eyelashes that can last a few weeks for $20!  If I had a special occasion coming up, I'd totally do it.

The only thing I don't like is one of the hairstylists comes off as super-desperate and kept asking me if I wanted a haircut (even the day I made the appt!).  I was nice the first few times and not so nice the last few.  Her behavior was totally unprofessional, and I could tell her continued interruptions made the girl doing my pedi a little uncomfortable.  And seriously... I don't know why she thought she could talk me into getting a haircut by being so obnoxious.  I have my own hairdresser that I've been going to for years.  There was never a chance.

I still love the place and will continue to go back.  And again, yay for fun nailpolish colors!! :D :D :D

That happened to me, too! I thought it was really weird and way too aggressive. I wonder if it ever works for her. I mean, getting a cut or a color isn't a on-a-whim treat when you go for a $15 pedicure.

In reading all these posts I was wondering if anyone had gotten anything but a 'standard' manicure. I could use a local place that does what my place calls a permanent French, basically it's lots of glue, powder and gel, finished with a coating that dries under the uv light. I've been shlepping to Whitestone to get this. Thanks.

I don't relax (chemically straighten) my hair -- it is very curly but I would like a roller set and blow out. Any recommendations for a Dominican salon? Thanks.

I have a friend who goes to Serenity on 37th Avenue.  I'm not exactly sure of the side streets, but it's located somewhere between 79th and no further than 81st Street (on the north side of 37th).
