I had a great experience at Ingrid's (the new big one on the corner).  I walked in, they were able to fit me in, and the wash, cut and blow out were around $35!!!  I forget the name of the person who cut my hair, but I was at the station right in front of the window...  My hairdresser was transgendered - everyone used the male pronoun, but he was dressed as a woman.  I wish I could remember his name - it was a really good haircut.

I have an unfortunate update...  I went back to Ingrid's  last weekend for a cut and had a terrible experience.  I wanted to take off more hair than the last time (4-5 inches) and it came out terribly.  I called Monday morning to say I wanted to come back in, and though they gave me a hard time, the owner agreed.  I went back Thursday and was treated like an inconvenience, only to get an even worse haircut.  It looks just awful.  So, I think this place is great for a last minute trim or a blowout, but I'd suggest you go somewhere else if you want a new cut/style. 

woah - $20 is a great price!  I'll try that out!  I can't belive they have a special on Fridays too - that's rare!

Angel Nail Spa -They have the most Amazing massage chairs (only a few months old) while getting a pedicure.  Happy hour manicure and pedicure is only $15.  Heck, I would pay that just for the massage chair... .  I'm a guy so I'm less maintenance than most of you gals but I still go every two weeks and I'm happy with their work (most of the time)

Keep an eye on the nail salon located on the corner of 81st and 37th Avenue.  I had a mani/pedi a few months ago and the lady taking care of me told me she had to eat her lunch in the bathroom.  She then asked for a new nail file and the owner called her outside.  She returned to tell me that he had reprimanded her for asking for a new file as she had received one the day before.  She as well told me that she is timed and can't go beyond 30-45 minutes for the mani/pedi.  After hearing this, I told the owner that I believed his behavior was somewhat abusive.  I'll let the ladies fight their battle.  I'm not going to do it for them.  I tried.  Perhaps others on this forum can get a better handle on how the ladies are being treated in that establishment by stopping by sometime. God bless them! 

I've gotten it done at the place on 37th Ave & 80th a few times (also a thrifty facial!).  I'm not sure what could cause a reaction since they only use thread.  Maybe the lotion they sometimes put on when finished threading? 

I've been getting mine threaded for years and it's amazing how the pain level can vary depending on the person threading.  :/

i actually really like 78 Nail salon, just off 37 ave....it can get cramped, but it's clean -- both to the eye and in terms of hygiene -- and there's very little staff turnover, so the ladies get to know you and your likes.
