'A Tragedy is Unfolding': Inside New York's Virus Epicenter
This is what happens when you celebrate, allowing and encouraging poor, uneducated people to come here to be taken advantage of by greedy people. They are totally unprepared for living and working in a (supposedly) advanced, expensive city.
from the article:
"Yet health care workers and community leaders say it is indisputable that the pandemic has disproportionately affected the Hispanic day laborers, restaurant workers and cleaners who make up the largest share of the population in an area often celebrated as one of the most diverse places on earth. Latinos comprise 34 percent of the deaths in New York City, the largest share for any racial or ethnic group, according to data released by state officials on Wednesday."
You have the other thread where someone complains about the lack of social distancing.
I have complained about continued dust from construction in Washington Plaza. That poor man they have working in the basement, skin coating and dry sanding; making clouds or dust. How healthy is that for him?
AOC encouraged non-citizen poorest people to live here illegally. Her stance against affordable housing because the poorest can not afford it shows her lack of understanding about what NYC is. Where has her loud voice been lately?
People -- co-op owners, realtors, politicians, construction companies, etc. -- who have been taking advantage of these people, have created the situation at Elmhurst hospital.
And, let us not forget greedy doctors who consolidated hospitals into mega health care providers. Keeping costs down by not stockpiling equipment and meds in case there is an emergency. They got rid of beds so there is not contingency plan for any emergency. All allowed by NYS and NYC politicians.
People encouraged this by their greed.
Rant over.
