Emoji Burger, opening soon in the storefront to the left of the Russian pharmacy (pharmacy is now gone, though).  Across from Happy Kitchen.

Sounded like a chain, but couldn't find any info online so I guess not. 

Well, many on this board, including myself, have lamented the lack of a good place to grab a beer and brew. 

Skeptical but hopeful.

Saw that one too.  My guess it's a 'lost in translation' thing. 

One of the main reasons I'm skeptical based upon what little we know.

I looked it up and found this on "The Art of the Burger" website:

I think this is still the bodega space (Jimmy's Deli, then Earthly something) NEXT to the empty pharmacy space. That pharmacy moved/is moving to the block with Table Wine. So, down one bodega, up one burger place, pharmacies at equilibrium.

From that picture Miss Jackson, it looks like you're correct. It is that former bodega sight.

So there is still the possibility that some entrepreneurial spirit may come in and decide to replace the pharmacy that moved across the street with another pharmacy.

There is a large pharmacy opening next to El Coyote called vida pharmacy, so with that being said, pharmacy and burgers up one  each, bodegas down one.

sorry to disappoint you, but the pharmacy, a high quality establishment that's been around for a very long time, just moved across the street.

And here I've been buying ground chuck instead of the ground sirloin because 1.) it's cheaper and 2.) more fat = tastier.

Hopefully this place is good, unlike the crepes place. Something I never understood is why someone would open up a restaurant, but serve mediocre or average food. You figure you could at the very least copy someone else's recipes. My friend said that people just want to open up businesses without having the knowledge and skills to actually run a successful one, which is perhaps true. Both Emoji and Swim Two Birds have a ton of potential though.
