Trader Joe's may be owned by a German concern now, but it was started years ago by Mr. Joe Colombe in South Pasadena, California.  The very first store is still there.  Joe sold the company in the 90's for loads of money and he retired.  He and his wife still live in the Pasadena area and are very generous donors to local charities.

i was searching EVERYWHERE for an organic food store that sold meat here in queens, couldnt find a damn thing. then i stumbled accross trader joes purely by accident. this is just what we needed here.

in short, *bump* as this is something everyone who lives here should know about that eats organic or antibiotic free chicken/beef/pork/veggies

Thanks, Terrance! Trade Fair used to sell Murray's chickens. And I have used Fresh Direct for hormone free pork and grass fed beef, but they sold me a poorly butchered rib eye that was most definitely not a rib eye. I'm going to go to Trader Joe's this weekend.

Aldi foods location

Crains New York Business is reporting on a new discount grocery store that will be opening in Queens some time soon...exact location is being withheld by its reps for now.  Aldi is a sister company of Trader Joe's, and its Queens location will be a first in New York City.  Has anyone been to one in another state?  If so, is this store similar to TJ's?

From Crain's New York Business:

Queens Central is reporting that Aldi Foods is set to open in Rego Center. http://www.queenscentral.com/forums/topic.php?id=4044
