TJ's is accessible by bus.  Take the Q53 that you can get at 75th and Broadway or 78-79 and Broadway. It drops you off directly across the street from TJ's.   It also makes a stop at the mall. Runs pretty frequently.

Has anyone ever tried TJ's espresso?  I'm not a coffee snob, but I do enjoy a bold and flavorful coffee experience.  I'll usually make a couple of shots of espresso and add that to steamed milk, so I would prefer the coffee to maintain a good strong flavor when it hits the milk.  I call it cafe con leche, but I suppose it can be considered a latte also?

Thought I'd share this Trader Joe's find.  It's pretty creative.

That photo essay was fun. Don't know where I've been - didn't even know Trader Joe's even had a Queens location. I am so there!!!  Lots of changes in that area - I used to go to Benny's Speed Shop!  Anybody else remember that place?

Crains New York Business is reporting on a new discount grocery store that will be opening in Queens some time soon...exact location is being withheld by its reps for now.  Aldi is a sister company of Trader Joe's, and its Queens location will be a first in New York City.  Has anyone been to one in another state?  If so, is this store similar to TJ's?

Its a junk shop. Discount brands and dented cans type place. They sometimes have fresh produce, or a dairy, but mainly junk. Similar to the food section at National Wholesale Liquidators. What might be interesting about it is that they don't have grocery bags. I believe you have to use empty cardboard boxes to pack your stuff up.

I know there is one upstate where I'm from.

Thanks for that info missmarty...very disappointing news.  What I don't understand is why the location is being kept secret.  Some surprise. :-X

from the article:
"Aldi is known for its store-branded merchandise, with about 95% of the items exclusive to Aldi."

That sounds like it could be be kind of interesting (Trader Joes-like), however, I took a look at some of the reviews on yelp for a Chicago-area location and those reviews made it sound quite uninteresting.

And don't we already have a thousand and one "international discount grocers" in Queens?

Bring on another Trader Joes!!

Maybe Aldi is the store where Trader Joe's products go to die.  This may explain why certain TJs products I love seem to be discontinued after a while.

Thumb's up for TJ's Spinach & Cheese Fillo Pie.  It's pretty good served as a last minute app.

I prefer Athena spanokopita which can be bought in various stores such as Walbaums, Best Yet, C-Town and Trade Fair.  They also carry cheese pies as well.
