Peralta ordered to be a Democrat
« Reply #180 on: April 04, 2018, 09:02:15 PM »
A couple of big stories today. First this:
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/04/nyregion/new-york-state-senate-democrats.html

Basically, it comes down to Cuomo advocating unity but, mainly so all Democrats support him because he's finally feeling the heat from this heinous arrangement. But, it's seriously messed up to think it was that easy and they waited until after the budget passed. That's about as insulting as what Republicans at the Federal level did with the tax bill. Interesting that Crowley was in attendance at this. It all seems so mafia like. The Boss quietly there along with the labor union leaders....

But later this surfaced:
https://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/04/04/nyregion/stipends-state-senators-new-york-.html

Gee, if you're not gonna pay us, why are we doing this?? Hope your Mercedes is payed off Jose. You can always trade it in I guess...

Peralta still needs to go as well as the rest of the IDC.  What will prevent the IDC members from going back to the IDC after the November election? Oh, their word.    ROFL!

IDC members still face challengers. Jessica Ramos has been racking up nice endorsements.

I'm done with Peralta. Too little, too late. He betrayed all our trust long ago, when we voted him in as a Democrat and a few short months later, he defected to the IDC to team up with Republicans. No progressive bills passed or even came to the floor, even though they sure passed the Assembly. Between him and Moya leaving us for City Hall, we've had no representation in our district in the legislature. This move is all politics for Cuomo and the IDC. I'm done. Through. Finito. I'm voting for Jessica Ramos in the primary come September.

I was done the moment he switched to the IDC. No matter what, he voted for two budgets that didn't push forward his supposed progressive goals. He's been denied his lulus, so what did his switch to the IDC accomplish other than to set him up for a primary challenge?

Here is a clip from NY1 with Jessica Ramos and Robert Jackson talking about why they are running against IDC candidates.  We cannot trust Jose Peralta, he has already betrayed our trust and, in my opinion, he will do it again if it suits his needs.

If you haven't been following the antics the IDC is up to lately...check out this article in the Daily News.  Here is a quote and a link to the article.

"It was a funny coincidence: The exact day state Senate Democrats and members of the Independent Democratic Conference reunited — booting the IDC from its leadership partnership with Republicans — was the day IDC members pocketed big bonus payments for serving in leadership roles.

Those bonus payments, called lulus, are wasteful and corrupting. They’re also, of course, the norm in Albany. They get ladled out to members of both minority and majority parties, but those in the majority get more. And in some cases they are attached to fake positions."

He voted against the DREAM act, and now he supports it in an election year! What gall.

http://www.ny1.com/nyc/queens/news/2018/04/14/as-peralta-rallies-for-new-york-state-dream-act--challenger-ramos-calls-it-a--charade-

When did he vote against the Dream Act?

^he didn't. The Dream Act last made it to the Senate floor in 2014, when no doubt he voted for it (we could look up his voting record, but he's been a proponent of the Dream Act, so I'm just assuming he did).

I really wish those who oppose Peralta's switch to the IDC would get the facts straight. He did not caucus with the Republicans, and he did not vote for Jeff Klein to lead the senate (his switch to the IDC came shortly after the Senate leadership vote for the 2017-2018 session). What he did vote for is two Republican budgets.

Petitioning began today for the Democratic ballot. Be sure to sign a petition for Jessica Ramos, and keep an eye on the WHOLE form if someone approaches you as part of street canvassing to make sure you are clear who you are signing to put on the ballot (registered Democrats can only sign a petition for one candidate).

People love their teams.  But the real game is not played on the field.
