Just caught this today:

http://queens.brownstoner.com/2015/02/american-bistro-is-coming-to-jackson-heights/

Can't wait to see what they do with the place.  The owner posted some pics of the pre-renovation interior on another thread here http://www.jacksonheightslife.com/community/index.php?topic=10200.msg59653#msg59653

Does anyone know what's happening with this restaurant and when it will open?

Really looking forward to when it opens, and checking out their food.

But I signed up for e-mails on progress but haven't received any.

So where's it at?

Cheers

Hi! Thanks for the interest.

We've been working away on the design-side of things while permit issues are getting sorted out. Things are complicated, but we're working them out. We don't have an estimated opening date yet, hopefully soon we'll be able to know roughly when that will be, and then we'll start posting news, updates and announcements. Right now there's nothing exciting to share, unless you're interested in learning about Alteration Type I permits and such  ;D

You have a great space, but I imagine that changing it to a restaurant involves a certain amount of aggravating, infuriating, mind-numbing, time-consuming red tape :)

Looking forward to your opening.

Have we figured out what's going on with this restaurant? Disappointed that nothing has happened yet because it sounded so nice on paper! Anyone have any news?

Usual request for an update. Dudley or anyone else with first-hand knowledge, can you give us an update?

Usually no activity and no news - for months - is bad news. I hope for the neighborhood's sake that I'm wrong.

I think its smart to keep quiet, especially in NYC as there are always delays and hicups.

Today I noticed the gate was partially up so I looked through the window.  Other than being gutted, there's no indication what the space will become.

Dudley, Can the Jackson Heights community still look forward to the opening of the Queensboro or should we just give up on it not happening.

Please respond either way, thanks.

I'm sure they won't forget Jackson Heights Life when they have some news to announce.

Not a good sign.

Something is going on in that space. I walked by and there were people inside, and I saw strings of lights hanging from the ceiling--like decorative lights not utility lights, which looked odd because the space is empty and raw.

It would make a good spot for a pop up rave. Better than the one planned on Halloween at a  well documented Superfund site in Greenpoint.
