Through the grapevine, I've heard from a reliable source that Tony, who is slated to be a chef at The Queensboro, has left his current gig as chef at Marios Pizza to focus his energies on The Queensboro while they work on preparing the eatery to open.

So glad to hear that things are back on track!

Now i have to wonder, which new american restaurant will open first?  Secondly, which one will be serving me a tasty bloody mary with brunch??

I don't see any evidence that anything is happening at that storefront. In fact, there's a "stores for rent" sign posted on the 80th St side of the building. Perhaps the venture was defeated by all the difficulties. How can anyone afford to rent space and wait endlessly for all these permits and approvals?

Well, for one thing, they didn't apply for a liquor license.

True, is that the reason though?

The Okawa between 77th and 78th on 37th sells beer and wine. They opened not too long ago. Wonder if we asked them if they had a problem getting a license what they would say.

Selling wine and beer seems to requires a different license than liquor. My understanding is it's easier to get than a liquor license. So a place that wants to forgo a bar and mixed drinks will have an easier time of it.

Walked by the site today and saw lights on and new windows installed. At last, some action! We wish the long-suffering proprietor all the best in getting this place open.

Hopefully..... An American Bistro. It's been in the planning stages for quite some time so don't know if it's actually going to open.

http://thequeensboro.com/

their website now no longer says "opening 2015", and has copyright 2016 on the bottom.

Anyone in the know give us an update?

I walked past this weekend, and new shutters were there, as well as a dumpster containing lots of building residue. Does anyone close to dudley et al have any info?

I've been wondering about this place myself for a while now. I walked passed it today and saw some serious construction going on. The gates were not open, they work with the gates closed. This place was huge inside. I asked the contractor what are you guys building? He told me " a bar and bistro, it should be open in about three months " Now we know for sure that it's coming so we can all relax now lol..
