Can anyone attend this meeting? Or do you need to be on the committee or reserve a spot?

I believe anyone can attend.  I don't know if anyone can speak.  I recommend calling in advance to find out whether there is an opportunity for public comment.

Did anyone attend the community board meeting concerning the dog run last Thursday (May 1)? I am curious whether there's been any real progress. I know there was an architect at the previous meeting, but I haven't heard anything about whether it's really going to happen.

My boyfriend and I have actively been working with the community board for the past two years to get a dog run... AND WE GOT ONE!  Our proposal was approved and it will be up in the next 8 months under the BQE on 35th Ave and 69th st!  If you need more info, let us know.  We also need support at the next community board meeting and it would be great for people to attend.

Congratulations on what I'm sure was a lot of time and energy on your part.  Don't be surprised to hear people complain about that site since it's under the BQE.... pollution, noise etc.

I'm thrilled.  Today I went into the City to the dog run at Union Square. It was great.  Instead of wood chips, it had tiny smooth stones.  I thought it was nicer than the one in Bayside that I usually go to.

Well done!
First, do no harm.

We have decomposed granite going on the site which should be nice.  Jackson Heights is starved for park space so we had little to choose from.  We are going to have a large and small dog run.  The noise level is not bad under the bridge.  We had multiple organizations at the community board meetings looking for more park space but we got the dog run... it will have to do.

On another note:

We have established the JH CREW, a citizens group who has volunteered to help with the upkeep of the park.  Please let us know if you are interested in being involved.  We need a lot of support.  You can email me at teachcrowley@gmail.com or my significant other at jeff.lowenhaupt@gmail.com.

I was walking around yesterday and thought it would be nice to take the dogs to a park.... now we can.

Congratulations!!!!!  This is great news for dog owners (ME) and for people who have front lawns and don't want dogs on them (ME)!!!  Any one who goes to a community board meeting and gets something accomplished deserves a special blessing.  I think the sight is perfect.  It's off to the side of the neighborhood, accessible and away from the congestion.  WELL DONE.

I agree -- congratulations and thank you for all of your efforts.

If you have any diagrams or renderings of the planned dog run, please consider posting them here so we can see what to look forward to.
