just curious, Michael:

you're a new user who's posted pretty exclusively on this topic and seem to have a good grasp of the neighborhood and the culinary concept....are you pondering opening a spot, perhaps?

Honestly, not at all. I lack the aptitude, drive, or patience to be a business owner.  Not my forté in the least.  My lady lives there and I often crave something along these lines in the neighborhood when I’m there.  And I had (have) a suspicion that there are many who feel the same. I think someone could have a successful go at it.

dog you don't even live in the neighborhood and you're trying to muck it up with focus-less places like create?

at least move here before you try and homogenize the neighborhood.

why does every neighborhood have to be the same? if you want this to be brooklyn than just move to brooklyn? if you can't afford brooklyn than make your health bowls at home. you can call it the 'brooklyn bowl'

bread is the benchmark for a bakery, and if it's balthazar that's going to be supplying - i'll continue taking the long walk to Canelle.

Balthazar is a special looking place but their baked goods don't hold a candle to Canelle.

I did a search and it appears this is only their second location the other in Minnesota.  It looks spectacular and appears to be a first class bakery/coffee shop.  Any thoughts on how this will effect other similar businesses in the area especially like Lety's & Espresso 77?  Considering what could have gone into that space, this is an enormous plus for Jackson Heights.

No, that's Farina Baking Company, not Farine. That business that you found doesn't seem to compare to Lety's or the coffee shop.

Anyway, this is clearly not a sign of gentrification.

Hey Minimal4me, I also am enjoying going through your journey on your blog.

Constructive criticism - the scrolling title on your tab is extremely distracting, and while i'm trying to read my eyes keep diverting to the tab. Seems silly but I'm sure it would help your readership to have it static.

Pets and Animals / RAD CAT ALTERNATIVES FOR JACKSON HEIGHTS CAT OWNERS
« on: November 21, 2018, 11:07:25 AM »
The recent shut down of coral aquarium, followed by the rad cat company have left us scrambling for cat food for our cats. I know there are more of you because we often went into coral to find rad cat had sold out.

I've found a few alternatives, mostly west coast based companies who can ship to NY but for a ridiculous sum.

Wondering if there's an off chance 2-3 other cat owners are searching for an alternative and in the same predicament, not really ready to spend $60+ on shipping food over.

What i'm suggesting is ordering as a group (on a schedule) and splitting the shipping fee.

Since the foods are frozen (provided you have freezer space) we could in theory order a months (or more) worth to further lessen the burden.

Anyone?

i'm going to go out on a limb and assume the 'we' that n00b was referring to were his/her posts/pov and my own.

i don't think n00b thought the worst of you so much as deduced those things based on your a) completely disregarding their post in order to make snide remarks about mine and b) make snide remarks about mine instead of addressing the issues i've pointed out on this board.

i could have just created a post entitled 'free thought dump' and the responses would have proven my points just as clearly.

someone here said the two restaurants they patronize in JH are Armando's and Addictive. GTFOH.

What's so bad about Panera? It's fairly healthy/healthier than, say, KFC, fast food of the type that many non-privileged, non-gentrifying residents here would no doubt appreciate. No, it's not fine cuisine, but you yourself, jo3boxer, say that the quality of the food of our many restaurants is not really your point of this discussion. Rather, it's race and class. I think your point of view here would be beloved by 45, as it would only serve to further fuel the anti-immigrant fires of his supporters.

your dumb is showing, ljr.
