Neighborhood Chat / Rating the Elementary Schools in JH
« on: April 12, 2008, 06:49:39 PM »
I wonder about the quality of the schooling options (both public and private) in JH.

What are the elementary schools in the neighborhood?

I have heard that PS 69 is overcrowded and not particularly good. What about other options? What about the Rennaissance School? Or the Garden School? Can any parents whose children attend these schools weigh in? I'd be interested in what are considered the worst and best schools in the neighborhood and why?

Is it ethical for a realtor to continue to list a property after they have recieved an offer and it has been accepted by the buyer? It seems slimey, but my understanding is that if the realtor represents the seller, it's ok. I have noticed that JH Landmark realty is doing that with some listing on craigslist and it just struck me as pretty unethical. Does anyone know for sure?

Restaurants & Food / Novo Restaurant
« on: January 13, 2008, 02:06:42 PM »
I really like Novo's, don't get me wrong. But I used to go there more when it was more affordable. As they have gotten more popular, they have raised prices (makes sense - supply/demand of course) and it's the only classy-ish sort of lounge in the neighborhood. You used to be able to get decent sized appetizers and drinks without breaking the budget, which meant you could go a few times a week. Now it's more of a special occasion place for me, which is fine, but nothing has replaced it as an AFFORDABLE, nice, neighborhood bar where you can hang comfortably with friends. I would even try Texas BBQ if they had some lounge chairs and you didn't feel like you had to leave after you had dinner. Does anybody agree? And are there other options out there?
