Does anyone know anything about this signup? There is a Blink near my office and I'd be willing to try out their all-access membership, especially if they are opening a location here in JH. They don't have classes or towel service, right?

They don't have classes and I think you can pay extra to "rent" a towel. I think it's $3.

as long as they have enough cardio stuff and other machines, i'll be happy.

but, out of curiosity, is there any fine print about exactly how much membership will cost? "pay nothing until we open" seems to say "you don't pay, we don't give you anything....what a deal!"

For the low, low price of $1 you get this nifty keychain membership card to nothing!

Maybe they let you use the Steinway location for "free" until the JH one opens? If I make it over there this week, I'll post any additional info they're passing out.

Ok Guys,

I dropped by Blink today and I'll share what I learned.

1) They will open September

2) If you sign up and pay $1 today, you save the start up fee of
  a) $99 for Blue membership (Access to all locations expect Noho)
  b) $49 Gray membership (Single club access)

3) Their monthly fee is $20 for Blue (12 month agreement), $15 for Gray (No term agreement)

4) Annual fee is $39 for Blue, $29 for Gray

I with they are a little bit closer to my home, at least on the north side of Roosevelt avenue so I don't need to cross the busy and noisy street every time. =)

Great update! Thank you all for the info. It's tough to keep pushing back the date. But it does sound promising if the membership office is open. I have a Blink near work. Maybe I'll spring for the all-location, at least until they open here.

My friend is a member at a Manhattan location. She says they are a great deal, so long as you are not looking for classes. The gym is clean and the equipment new and kept in good shape.

I don't know about the towel service.

Thanks @paparinkochan!

@Minimal4me, my neighbor belongs to the Steinway location (for now) and he also mentioned how clean and well-maintained it is. Seems like they have good standards company-wide, which is promising. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished space when it opens (...in September, grumble).

I noticed that Blink has placed signage on the building. That seems promising.

You can sign up online or go in to sign up for the $1 deal. They also have a layout of what the gym will look like once it's complete. It's about 18,000 square feet with tons of cardio equipment.

There were a couple of Blink people handing out flyers on 82nd Street between 37th and Roosevelt today.  They had a clipboard where one could sign up to enter a raffle for a one-year free membership to the club.  I signed up.  I'm an optimist

I hope Blink is opening, not sure why the open date is being extended. I am at EFN now and they are supposedly moving to a new location in May. This too keeps getting extended. However, the owners/staff tell different members different addresses of where they are moving to. So not sure if they are actually moving or up and closing.  In any event, I am hopeful Blink will open.  I also heard ages ago a NYSC will open up in the new construction site on Northern and 88th. I have no clue what is opening up there.

Regarding EFN and its new site, I saw this sign above El Pequeno coffee shop, which is at 86th and Roosevelt.  The sign is hard to read in the photo, but I believe it says EFN Grand Opening Coming Soon.  Join Now.

They were handing out brochures outside of Foodtown the other day as well. I asked the guy if it they really won't have any free weights and he said yes (meaning they won't have them).

I was hoping but oh well. That is an absolute dealbreaker for me because I do weights more than anything else and machine weights are useless (for my purposes).

That's very strange - the website says they will have free weights and the one in Astoria I do believe has them.  http://www.blinkfitness.com/locations/roosevelt

Regardless, I hope more gyms besides Bink come into the area.

RE: free weights at Blink. The facilities are very well stocked with dumbbells from 2.5 to 90 pounds, plus benches. However, there are only a couple of squat racks fitted with barbells.
