I can't wait for Blink to open.

Also, check out the details of your health insurance plan because it may offer fitness reimbursement. I have one through New York State of Health, and many of the ones there will reimburse you up to $200 for 6 months of gym membership fees.

EFN has already started to downsize their current space to get ready to move.  Tenants on the 2nd floor of the EFN current space are moving out as Blink will be taking over the entire 2nd floor. I for one am excited to have Blink. No one at EFN can tell me (a member for 3 years)where exactly they are moving to on 84th-85th street, leads me to wonder if they really are moving.

I'm glad to hear Blink is taking over the 2nd floor as well.  Hearing that, I'm a bit less concerned about the overcrowding issue.

I am glad too!!  The rates for Blink are about $240 a year.  Soo excited to have a nice, clean and bright gym to go to.

that's a really great rate. will definitely check into a membership when they're in gear. classes and extras like that never appealed to me, so I'm happy to have a no-frills (but hopefully well maintained) gym around.

I am really happy about this! We just bought a place on 85th and at the time we made the offer there were no gyms I thought. This is great! I'd also love a pilates studio if anyone has a good recommendation? I've been doing rehabilitative pilates after a knee injury and it would be great to have a studio near home.

This is the yoga studio, run by Mimi.

She's open to suggestions and ideas, so if you don't see what you want you should ask her. They also do an awesome pre-ballet class on Fridays at 4:30 that I'm trying to get more kids to attend, so if you know of any 3-5 year olds interested in ballet, send them there!

An article from this week's Crain's:

Blink gym muscles in
Equinox's rapidly expanding low-cost gym chain is turning into an area heavyweight.

The latest is that Blink isn't opening in Jackson Heights til August.  That's three times the open date has been pushed.  I hope the third time's the charm.  I wonder why there's such a delay.  I also hope another gym takes the hint and opens here too, or that EFN really does open a new place.  Blink is bound to be crowded.

I hope Blink is opening, not sure why the open date is being extended. I am at EFN now and they are supposedly moving to a new location in May. This too keeps getting extended. However, the owners/staff tell different members different addresses of where they are moving to. So not sure if they are actually moving or up and closing.  In any event, I am hopeful Blink will open.  I also heard ages ago a NYSC will open up in the new construction site on Northern and 88th. I have no clue what is opening up there.

What the Blink?

Anyone hear any update on the gym? Does it seem realistic that Blink will open by August? We're new to the neighborhood and missing our gym.

Ha!  The opening date now says September.  This date has now been pushed back at least 4 times.  Either the building's a wreck and needs major renovation or they're having other troubles.  I wish more gyms would come here.  We need them!
