Reviving this old thread to let everyone know that Espresso 77 has added a small-but-carefully-selected beer list to our menu and will soon be serving glasses of wine!

Our inaugural beer menu (all in bottles):

I'm embarrassed to say I've driven by but only stopped once because of the lack of parking and sitting

I'm always stopping by the area on a weekly basis (used to be on a daily basis)  :(

make sure you have a decent Merlot please and obviously a Chardonnay.  If you have real Chablis (french) you'll set yourself apart...

Good News and good luck... :)

We are happy to announce that in addition to our selection of tasty beers, we are now also offering wines by the glass at Espresso 77.  We've got white, red and rose wines and they have been carefully chosen to complement our brunch, lunch and dinner items.  They are also great on their own!   We will be adding a few more wine-friendly snacks to the menu over the next few weeks as well.

We look forward to sharing these wines with you and getting your feedback and suggestions on other wineries, varietals, regions you would like to see represented on our list.

Hope to see you soon,
Julie and Afzal and everyone at e77

I am probably much closer to Cassidy's than most of you but in my opinion, it is worth the walk for beer and for the food. I've always found it to be friendly and welcoming. In fact, when I moved here in October after a long and yucky day unloading the moving truck by myself, I went there and was instantly welcomed. When I said I was new to the neighborhood, the bartender introduced me to everyone and everyone was very friendly. Having lived in a lot of different places, it was most of the nicest welcomes I have gotten to a new neighborhood. People gave me advice about different.
I now go there frequently with my husband and (sometimes) our 11-year-old. When we do bring our daughter, they are always really nice to her and remember that she likes Shirley Temples :) The food is really good, the special burger is fantastic and they do their own steak fries. During football season, they had a wings (25 cents) and Coors Light special ($7/pitcher).
And their draft beer selection is better than most in the neighborhood. They just added Franziskaner Hefeweizen which is delightful and much cheaper than most other places.

wow, thanks for the tips, Tara!
I gotta tell you, last football season, I had some trying weeks, and not many of my friends are fans of watching football... All I wanted to do was watch football and eat chicken wings and drink beer. That's all I wanted. It was hard finding this in my neighborhood. I still am not all about Legends - I pretty much just wanted 25 cent wings.... I will def check out cassidy's by years end.

Well, Cassidy's definitely has excellent wings. Their medium ones are a little spicy and a little sweet. The hot ones are your traditional hot buffalo wings and the really hot ones are wonderfully hot but still flavorful...I only ate one but my husband loves them. And you can't beat 25 cent wings and $7 pitchers of beer. If you are there on Mondays during football season, look for us. My 11-year-old will be the silly one cheering for the Detroit Lions if they are playing...Yikes!

My husband and I were hanging out with a couple of friends late last night after a movie and decided to try Cassidy's Ale House for some burgers. Unfortunately, the kitchen was closed, so we were unable to sample any of the food.  Nonetheless, I really liked the pubby (word?) ambiance.  It gave me that "Cheers" sought of vibe.  You know, the kind of place where everyone knows your name.  We'll definitely have to go back and try the food.

Yep, that's what I like about Cassidy's. The bartenders and waitresses all know me now. The kitchen is definitely open pretty late on Friday and Saturday but I am not sure when exactly it closes on any other night. I know I've been able to get food before 11 though. Definitely go back for the food, I am glad you enjoyed it :)

So we went back to Cassidy's earlier tonight, and this time the kitchen was open.  We all ordered burgers, although I noticed that they do have a nice varied menu that also includes sandwiches, fish & chips, soups, salads, etc.  I ordered a swiss cheese burger with sweet potato cross hatch fries.  Loved it!  We'll definitely be going back to try some of the other menu offerings.  The service was great too!

Wow!  It's been a while since the last post to this thread, so I'm sure Jackson Heights and neighboring communities have seen a few changes in terms of bars, pubs, etc.  Here's one change...  Donovan's Pub in Woodside is under new ownership and will be getting somewhat of a facelift.  According to the Queens Chronicle, the new owners are Woodsiders.

While the new ownership claims to want to maintain the pub's original vibe, they are planning some changes.  This may be of interest to those looking for a sports bar feel:

"The taps will get a little updating as well with a few more microbrew selections. The new owners want to also tap into the Mets and Giants fan customer base by subscribing to additional TV sports packages."

Best burger joint, Donovan’s Pub, in Woodside bought by neighbors

@ Chuckster
I haven't gone to Donovan's in a few years but it has a special place in my memory.  When I started working in Queens (an environmental remediation firm) I used to go with a co-worker.  Tommy M was probably one of the smartest guys I had ever met...This was in 1987 (I think, I opened my business in 1990)...We used to go almost every Friday for lunch.  I was their youngest employee at the time and coming from working in the city since the age of 12, it was a very odd change for me.  I liked the environment, I had a lot of fun with the regulars there and honestly, the burgers were really good and they had this Romanian steak which I used to like.  It's been a long time, I don't really go to bars much unless I'm having a pre dinner drink but I would be great to have a few of us meet over there.

Any ideas?
