I took gobs of pictures. See album number 1 and album number 2. (A Facebook account is not required to view the pictures.)

Thanks for posting these.  The crowd looks a bit sparse compared with last year's celebration.  Find any good eats?

You’re welcome. I’m sure there were plenty of good eats there, but I did not partake in snack food because of its high carbohydrate count. I could have found a suitable main dish, but I wasn’t hungry enough, plus living in Jackson Heights means I can eat the food of the very same restaurants almost any time I like. I was too busy taking pictures of other people’s food.

The mela was covered in these two versions of what are essentially the same article. The second one has more information about Jackson Heights.

• Anindita Ghose, “Jalebis in Jackson Heights!,” Mumbai Mirror, 17 April 2009.
• Anindita Ghose, “Jalebis in Jackson Heights and other such wonders,” Anindita Ghose, 17 April 2009.
