I think Thomas Pizza on 83rd St & 37th Ave is the best in the neighborhood.

Has anyone ever been to Singa's Pizza in Elmhurst?  It's on Broadway, right near all the Thai places like Nusara and Chao Thai.  I've actually never noticed it when I've been over there, but I was reading the reviews on yelp and it seems people can't get enough of it.  I may have to go check it out.

I used to be a devoted fan of Rosa's in the strip mall on 75th and 31st near Modells, but something has just been wrong with everything I've ordered there lately (soggy crusts, flavorless pizza, etc.).  So on another board someone recommended the Pepino's in woodside, and i noticed that they took over the old Thomas's Pizzeria on 37th ave and 76th across the street from Met.  Their grandma slice is out of this world - oven roasted sauce, crisp yet fluffy crust, caramelized onions, it's amazing.  I'd highly recommend it to everyone in the nabe.

I never loved Rosa's cuz it reminded me of the Famous Ray's in Manhattan: heavy on the cheese, not enough flavor.  But now that you're telling us the Thomas's at 76th Street has new owners, I'll have to try them.  I still want to try La Cabana for a brick oven pie but even if it's great, I miss having a place walking distance for a great slice.

If you like Singa's, there's a branch called Elmhurst Famous on 37th Ave between 75th and 76th that sells the same exact pizza.  I think one of them branched off from the other.  I like their fresh tomato pie the best!  Their Indo-Pak Special pizza isn't that bad either.

We tried the grandma pizza from Pepino's last night. It was amazing.  :smitten:

hi buddy - I admit I'm lazy when it comes to picking up a slice and I'd usually just walk a block to Pizza Boy, but Pepino's is that good that I'll go out of my way another two blocks.  I'd also love to try out the brick oven place because when I lived in Astoria I was at Sac's all the time for their brick oven.  If you try it please let us all know if it's any good.

Well, NY Epicure I did go to Pepino's because of the few posts here and loved it.  In the NAME OF SCIENCE I forced myself to eat two slices instead of the usual one... (I go all out for my foodie friends here  :angel:) and the grandma was GREAT. Or "amazing" as Abee said. The regular was also good.  But definitely will be eating that Grandma again and again.  All the pizza there was cooked crispy.  Golden brown crusts instead of those flaccid undercooked pies you see everywhere. What a treat.  I still have to check out the brick oven at La Cabana.  To be continued.....

Man, I am the queen of hanging out, eating and drinking.  Anything rather than be forced to shop and cook.  I don't know what LaCabana's beer situation is.  Since I'm a block from them I'll pop in one day and find out.  I'm a red wine drinker myself.  I feel the Surgeon General would want us all to drink red wine for the resveratrol & polyphenols (antioxidants).  And I'm all for a healthy diet!    But not to diss beer:; it can help to raise HDL and lower insulin resistance.  It would be foolish not to have booze a brick over pie!!!!!  We should get some peeps together and check it out.

I think the surgeon general have some who they wouldn't want to be drinking red wine or anything else. A certain elected official for one.
