Chuckster, thanks for trying it wasn't "Clarks" but Clarks had some beautiful clothes but, I was a kid and it wasn't stuff I'd wear, it was clothing my Mother wore. Now, the store I am talking about was near "Bakers" the old Bakers (the large one) that was next to Genovese. Remember? I worked at Genovese for years. Anyway, I REMEMBER the store, "Something Else". That was a Grrreat store!!! Remember Shoe Shack on 82nd St? Remember the bank on the corner of 82nd & 37th (I think it is still a bank) anyway, remember the Clock, it actually told the right time??
Now do you remember on Roosevelt and 79th St., there was a Steak house/bar and Restaurant? Then on 79th Street toward 80th there was a furniture store and on the other side of the street, was a rug warehouse opposite Toy City. Then on 80th St in Roosevelt where the 99Cent store is today was, Social Security. The Make-up store was next to Toy City. (Remember I was a kid so, I was always was in Toy City getting toys)
Does anyone remember the little antique shop next to Green Theme on 37th and 75th Street? It was owned by a Mother and her son? The son was kind of creepy looking to me but, he actually was nice. They sold doll house stuff?
Thank you everyone for taking me back to a place, I truely miss!!! Wow I have been here a long long time.
