Cleanup for 69th Street/BQE on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at 4:00PM

Hello Everyone!

It seems the dog run is near completion with only the benches and mulch needing to be installed. That being said, we would like to clean up 69th Street/BQE from 37th Avenue to Northern Boulevard on Sunday, April 18, 2010, from 4:00 to 6:00PM, at JHCREW (dog run)! There is plenty of garbage and we need all the hands we can get. The more people we have, the quicker it will be to clean, so feel free to bring friends and family!

JHBG will be able to provide the following:

-- trash cans on wheels
-- trash bags
-- brooms
-- pickers
-- gloves.

Afterward we will meet for pizza and soda at Community Methodist Church on 35th Avenue & 81st Street.

Oh no! I wish I read this sooner.  It's too late to help now.  My daughter & I did the original clean-up there in October.  It was very rewarding.  I bet the bulbs we planted are all growing now.  Any idea why the JHBG doesn't do more advertising on their projects?  They could have at least sent out a blast email to past participants whose email addresses they already have on file, if nothing else.  I found out about the last clean-up there through my daughter's school.  Oh well, let me know if there are any future dates or other area projects needing volunteers.

Bella,
I participated in this clean-up with the JHBG in October and my 10 year old did it with me.  There were even some 4 and 5 years olds helping out.  Assuming they will go about it in the same way, what they did then was have a few people go ahead of time and remove anything potentially dangerous or kid un-friendly.  I'm bringing my daughter along again this time.

Don't know if that answered your question but maybe John has more answers.

If there's a follow up date, please let me know. I'm going to an afternoon baptism on Sunday and it will conflict (and I"m the godparent, so I can't get out of it ;)).

It's a little brisk out there today, but at least the sun's out! See you all there!  I just walked by the dog park, and it's looking really good!

Thanks so much to the 20 or so that showed up - it was a great turnout. We cleaned and removed hundreds of gallons of trash from the street, making 69th from 37th Avenue to Northern Blvd a much nicer place for dogs and for people!
Look for an opening announcement in the next week or so - we hope to be fully open and running by the end of the month!

So exciting.  I was out of town on business this past w/e.  My broken foot is healing nicely and I am looking to adopt two dogs within the month so I should be back in action soon.
