The trouble with ordering in at this time...is that folks are nervous if maybe the food preparer is an asymptomatic carrier...and might transmit the disease via the food.

How do you know when asymptomatic carriers, said to be up to 20% of the population, cannot be tested?

A worrying mess, really.

you're right. it's also an issue when purchasing any kind of fresh food -- fruit, veg, meat, cheese. we can trust canned and processed food for now. but if this goes on longer, the supply chain will start to include products made after January. unless plants are shut down and we have no processed food at all.

and does anyone know if the Pacific Market (i always forget the new name) on 75th and Broadway is open? i need to stock up on some things best sourced there.

Yes, as reported in local Mandarin news outlets (and posted up-thread), Pacific in JH as well as a number of larger Asian chains in Flushing (e.g., J-Mart) are closed at present, though expected to open up again sometime next week. Fingers crossed! :)

I don't think prepared food is considered an infection vector for viruses. Assuming the food has been thoroughly cooked, you're more likely to find active virus on the packaging it from the delivery person since the virus lives longer on non-porous surfaces and is most commonly spread person to person. All indications are that shopping in a store can be more hazardous than getting a delivery or picking up depending on how much close contact you have. Of course, they've changed their mind about this virus before and I don't blame anyone for having an abundance of caution. The Verge had a recent article about this: https://www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2020/3/17/21183919/food-take-out-delivery-order-safe-restaurants-coronavirus

Pizza Sam has posted on Facebook that this is a one-day break for mental health, not a closure.

That 10 day closure was short and long at the same time!

On Monday I noticed signs on Cannelle Patisserie that they were reopening today 4/9, hours: M-Sat 8-5 & Sunday 8-4. I can not confirm if it actually happened or not, so it's probably a good idea to call to confirm before you head over. :)

I'm  just happy that it's opened again. Apna isn't my first choice when it comes to grocery.

There's a risk with ordering food but I imagine waiting on line for a grocery store for an hour comes with a greater risk.

Just Made 4 U seems to have closed--but is Emoji Burger still open? I think they are owned by the same people. Very sad about Just Made 4 U--one of the places we have ordered from often over the years.

Not sure about Emoji Burger. Their last post on Instagram was from March 18th, and they were open at that time.

Re Just Made 4 You, they shared the following yesterday:
