Venue ideas?
« on: October 25, 2019, 04:14:24 PM »
Hello everyone, hoping to tap the collective wisdom. I'm looking to hold a small gathering, about 15-20 people, and I'm looking for ideas for a venue. I am not interested in a private event, but rather a cool, low-key but elegant place that can accommodate a crowd of this size. I would consider Manhattan, Queens (JH, LIC), Brooklyn -- anything that is accessible by subway.

Thank you in advance.

I haven't seen it, but the Queensboro does have a private event space downstairs.  Check in with Dudley... he can provide details.

Closer to the subway, there's an upstairs portion of Jackson Diner that I've seen open for private events.

I have held very low key events (a teenager's birthday party) at BQE Billiards at 70th & 34th.  They can't provide a fully private space, but it's a fun atmosphere.

There's also 39th Avenue Arts N Events in Long Island City.

This doesn't sound like it's for you, but for anybody looking for something glitzy that can handle a much larger crowd in JH, there's the newish Bellozino (https://www.bellozino.com/) at 72nd & Roosevelt and the medium-sized Perlas (https://www.perlas.website/) at 69th & Roosevelt.

I went to a wedding reception at Brooklyn Winery. They host private parties, weddings, etc. and from what I recall the place is pretty large, so maybe they would have what you're looking for.

Thank you to all who responded. I am looking for more of a bar kind of a place, rather than a venue. Any other suggestions?

@Jeff: Looking for Saturday 11/9 early evening.

Thanks, all!

Here's one more option:

This is a Japanese restaurant/bar in Astoria with a great roof deck.   In mild weather, this can be a nice place to hang out.

QED Astoria rents out their space. I've had a few parties at Lennys clam bar in Howard beach. They have two party spaces and service has been top notch!
