Yes. That is US thinking. It is culturally how many US citizens are taught to think. But not how citizens of other first world nations think.

The issue is cultural. Not a question of right or wrong particularly.

(Tho the Health Care System is crazy in the US. Other first world citizens would be horrified to know that very often we in the USA must battle with our health insurance companies for coverage even when we do have health insurance. I suppose that's part of good ol' self determination...)

that's fair enough.

you need regime change, then. the current regime isn't going to lower your taxes (i'm guessing that, you, like me, are not earning more than 500K per year), and it's intent on taking away self-determination (by packing federal courts with activist judges intent on taking away same).

 The par-tay is at Bernie's! Let's hope that if by some miracle he is the nominee, he will be more inclusive and try to rally all eligible voters, not just ones that are 100% on board with his policies. His campaign last election was rude as all get out to other constituents, like working people whose points of views were not exactly aligned with his. And his reluctance to ask his people to vote for Hilary had to have played some role in us having President marmalade now.

 Props to his social game though...

We have President Marmalade because Hillary Clinton is widely despised.  She was a bad candidate, and failed in her ambitions because of her own character, performance, and record.  Bernie being reluctant to ask "his" people to vote for Hillary became irrelevant when he asked his people to vote for Hillary... as did Bernie himself. But to be on topic, AOC throwing her support behind Bernie is no surprise at all given their shared communistic goals.

Socialism/communism may be distinguishable on paper, or in internet chat forums, but they are remarkably indistinguishable when you have the boot of authoritative centralized government pinning your head to the dirt floor.

In my opinion Bernie and AOC are disingenuous.  In my opinion they are starry eyed authoritarians masquerading as people of high moral conscience.  But even if you choose to believe that Bernie and AOC mean well, from their deep caring hearts for the masses of unfortunates, they are demonstrably ignorant of the harsh lessons that their ideologies have taught to millions of unfortunates around the world.  For their bad ideas alone they ought to be ostracized from American politics.

I will never vote to give these types of people any authority over myself or my country.

These political ideological battles always play out with power struggles and how to maintain power when it comes to the real world.

And political ideology takes second place...or is simply a lip service to maintain that power.

Whether socialist/communist or right wing.
