Additcive and the DOH
« on: March 31, 2018, 09:42:28 AM »
Was considering going to Addictive to eat/drink.  My partner searched the DOH website (this is his usual practice as he is in the business), only to find they had received 29 violation points, four of which were critical.  Does anyone know if they were closed?

Not so far as I know. Have eaten there with no issues, will continue to eat there. Given Francisco's insistence on detail and order, I'm a little surprised at their findings. This is the only place I've seen in the neighborhood that the back of house staff actually take a few minutes of their down time, in between orders coming into to the kitchen area, to actually police and wipe down their work area and equipment without anyone actually telling them to do so.

Are you hanging out in restaurant kitchens while you wait for your food to be prepared?

That was gonna be my other point - it's an open kitchen there, you can see precisely what they're doing and what's happening to your food as it's being prepared.

CAP'N - I'm a musician, so I've spent my fair share of times not just going back to the kitchen to get food, but also schlepping a double bass through many of them, since they don't want the band coming in the front door 8)

^why? If you don't like what I'm asking someone, you're not required to engage or pay attention.

Do you have a question you'd like to ask? Is there a specific block that you'd like to inquire about?
Look, there's nothing ambiguous in my original statement of what i experienced, you're welcome to disregard it, if you so choose. There are kitchens I've been in and kitchens I haven't been in, I'm not sure how that changes WHAT I SAW and HOW THAT COMPARED TO OTHER THINGS I SAW.

^I think I've been very clear in my question to you. How can I clarify it further?

You are after all, suggesting that most of the restaurant kitchens in the neighborhood you've seen have staff that don't clean, so I've clearly and directly asked you just how big a sample your experience represents.

There are many things the public is not aware of when they eat out.  Places with the best reputations can also be the filthiest.  Ed, you mentioned that you see the staff clean up the tables, even in there "down" time.  One of the things they were sited for was using dirty rags to "clean" the tables.  The food business is not an easy one.  There are many regulations to running a place like this.  It's a great addition to the neighborhood....as long as they get their act together.

^he's actually talking about back of house staff, which are line cooks, prep staff, dishwashers, etc.

I'd like to get a sense of how extensive his experience is with neighborhood kitchens before judging how much weight to give his perception when casting aspersions on the cleanliness of local restaurant kitchens.

What's the point of this thread? Asking about citations that you allegedly just saw seems less about asking for an update than it is about announcing it to the world. If you really wanted to know, you could've easily called the restaurant or DOH itself. I can't even confirm the citation points you cited because the DOH website is showing errors, so you've now just created this presumption that others will just rely on because they can't discredit it easily.

lol how does this apply to what you quoted? Honestly, I'm sure you thought that this was a really clever attack but it's actually dumb. People try to ask legit questions and challenge a faulty perspective and because there isn't a solid defense, you decide to call others into question by dropping a dictionary definition as if that's sufficient explanation for why you think a person is guilty of subterfuge. If you had a point, you'd point out exactly what of the specific circumstances at hand supports your conclusion that there is subterfuge.

I've been on this board for awhile and I have found captainflannel's posts to be some of the most reasonable whereas some of you sound petulant. Grow up.

N00b, it is in solidarity with abc's post in reply to captain flannel insulting him/her on another thread, which was explained, but apparently you missed that.

I can see why you would be sympatico of CF and find his/her posts "reasonable."
