I'm still searching for a good local veterinarian. Have one you like in the area? I tried the one on 35th between 71 and 72nd (or, at least, I think that's the block) and wasn't really keen on the care there. So, I'm on the hunt for a new one...especially one that's good with, how to put this, handling mean old cats with severe attitude problems.
I've taken a cat to Heights Vet. Hospital in the past and now take my toy poodle. I guess everyone has a different experience because - so far - I've been happy with them. They came highly recommended to me by a close friend who used to be a Vet Tech and worked with Dr. Riehle and Dr. Ackerman (who has since retired).
I have to say I haven't had any serious issues re: my pets health, so my visits are fairly routine. But what I like about them is the following:
1. You don't need an appointment unless you're scheduling surgery in advance.
2. The older guy who works the front desk part time, Frank, is a doll.
3. Dr. Riehle and Dr. Alvarez have both seen me and my pets for no charge. While I've been there, I've also seen them see other people and their pets and not charge them. I spoke to them about it cuz I wanted to make sure they weren't going to go out of business!!! They laughed.
4. They're not greedy. They're just nice guys maybe without the warmest bedside manners but I like them.
My other friends take their dog to Noah's Ark. I think they're happy with that place. I've never been inside.
