PS 212/Ps 69 question
« on: June 09, 2016, 12:16:19 PM »
Hello! Just looking to speak to anyone with any insight into these two schools. Our son wouldn't be starting for a few years. We live right next to PS 212. I would prefer PS 69.
Anyone have any insight into the possibility of being accepted at ps 69?

Thanks,
Bonnie

My children have been in PS 69 since kindergarten.  My daughter is in honors, there are 32 kids in her class.  My son is not in honors, there are 28 kids in his class. Teachers in honors are usually awesome, non- honors teachers are hit or miss.  PS 69 scores are dropping because teachers there are teaching the lessons out of the teacher guides and they are not really teaching the standards.  The male gym teacher really can't stand children.  The administration can be really unhelpful when you desperately want to help your child.  There are some fantastic educators in that building and some duds.  Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my daughter's experience and I am sickened by my son's experience.

We know a couple of dedicated, fun, cool, artistic families whose children are attending PS 212 and they say the experience has been great. I know their kids are also involved in theatre and sports, through other Jackson Heights organizations.
