And on the canopy over the service entrance on 75th is now a sign announcing the new Global Market. I guess Key Food reneged on the deal, and yes..... it does look like the old shell game. I feel a boycot coming even if Foodtown is overcrowed and taking advantage lately with price gouging!

i haven't noticed any price changes at foodtown.

but since the goons stationed at the doors of the "new" market seem to be the same guys who wandered the aisles of the old one, i'd say the scam is kind of transparent.

I stopped in Foodtown on my way home tonight - while waiting in the long line I noticed signs over the registers announcing new closing hours: Mon-Sat until midnight and Sun until 11:00. It looks like they will be giving Keyfood (or Global Market) some competition for the late night shoppers.

I too have noticed increased prices at Foodtown since they changed from Met Foods.

I really hope neighbors will boycott the new place and let them know the reason why you will not be shopping there.  We shouldn't allow this kind of treatment of hard working employees in our neighborhood.

The situation is looking worse for the workers, and the overall picture looks extremely suspicious.  And disappointing.  I will not be shopping there.

Thanks for posting this, Shelby2. I too will not be shopping there unless something changes. Based on this information, the new owners seem pretty heartless.

Disgusting.  Thanks for the heads up.  I'll be boycotting this place.  Dirty inside and out.

anyone who believes a sale has taken place can buy the 59th street bridge from me.

no need to rush, I have several of them for sale.

I'm hearing that there is no truth to this story and that Trade Fair is here to stay.

I am sorry to say that who ever told you that Trade Fair is here to stay is not being truthful.

- There is an application for a new Grocery Beer License for the location - pending with the NYS Liquor Authority
(Please note: these applications require a bill of sale for a temporary license, and the lease transfer to issue a permanent)

- I have spoken to the landlord's rep, and he confirmed it

- Employees have acknowledged their transfer to another Trade Fair location, as the store is being sold

- Tenants in the building where Trade Fair is located have been informed of the change by Trade Fair employees

How will the business owner know he is the subject of a boycott?

And how about when the cash registers aren't ringing? I wouldn't be surprised if the owners aren't reading all of this also.

If the "goons" are the same as before, then presumably they are staff getting their jobs back. But I've never noticed anyone I'd call a goon, just guys stacking and re-stocking and being helpful about getting stuff from high shelves out of my reach.

If there is any sign of a picket line I certainly won't cross it; otherwise I will go in and look around.

And seconding what somebody remarked about the old TF meat staff - they did an excellent job in my experience.

The one man I am speaking of is the one who followed customers around the old shop and hangs out near the door now yelling at people not to look inside or take photos. A manager. Not a worker .

There will be a rally at noon tomorrow (Wednesday), in front of what used to be Trade Fair.  Some of our local politicos will be there as well as the ousted union member workers and, I hope, the press.

500 signatures of protest from local residents will be delivered to the owner of the new place.

Please try to come out and support the union workers, if you can.  I know it will be cold out so bundle up.
