Anyone else out there feel guilty about occupying a table a bit longer than it takes to eat your food/drink your coffee? Was there with a friend earlier today. The place is so cozy and comfortable, that we hated to have to leave, but sort of felt compelled to do so as we were using one of the few tables. Even if I had a laptop and was using their WiFi, I would feel guilty doing so. $:-\$

I always feel like a poser in coffee shops because, well, I don't drink coffee.

Stopped by Espresso 77 this afternoon and had some great hot chocolate with whipped cream and some cookies. All delicious. Nice to have a cozy friendly new place in the neighborhood.

I just walked by Espresso 77 and happened to notice that they had a small chalk board outside announcing that they are now serving soups, pannini sandwiches and chicken pot pies. Wow! This should definitely hit the spot on this wintery Sunday!

I went yesterday for the first time and had a fig and fennel scone, and noticed that they are selling coffee beans. I wasn't sure if they were selling them at first (since it was my first time) but they are definitely selling them now.

and the scone was nice! Can't wait to go in the morning and try one of their other flavors and actually try some coffee.

Shelby, the sale of the coffee beans was planned ahead of time, but also a recent addition. With regard to their coffee, so far I've only had their bold drip and a latte with skim milk. Both were delicious! I've heard rave reviews from my neighbors about their holiday beverage offering. I can't recall the name, but they say it contains chocolate and peppermint and is very rich and smooth at the same time.

I just read on another JH blog that Espresso 77 will be toasting their bagels in the near future. It seems that some of their customers want toasting. Hooray! Another reason to love this place. :smitten:

We were just there this morning [12/27] and spoke to the gents behind the counter. We mentioned we moved to JH from Seattle about seven weeks ago, and that Espresso 77 looks very much like a typical Seattle coffee hangout. They told us the owners actually spent quite a bit of time in Seattle, researching espresso machines, styles of establishments, and amenities before opening their own caffeine-mecca in JH.

Here's a nice article from the TimesLedger.com profiling the proprietors of Espresso 77. According this article, expansion may be in the works down the road, and that expansion can possibly include a wine bar. That would be a wonderful addition to the neighborhood.

went here middle of december on a sunday. liked it. had the "bold" coffee and a bite of my BF's cinnamon raisin bagel. i liked the staff...liked the product. wish there was more room and a little less of the "hipster" vibe (but that's not the management's fault).

i wish them great luck and look forward to more places like this in the hood (would also love if they expanded to a better space!).

Wow... nearly a month since the last Espresso 77 post!

I just wanted to say that I noticed that this week's Jonny Meyers performance will be on Friday evening, not Sunday (probably due to the Super Bowl). And our friends over at Splitting Hairs at Forest Hills ran a profile of Meyers today.

Also, a big thank you! to Ambrosia Bakery for making those delicious chocolate cherry scones. Best so far... please keep these near the top of your rotation!

I just came across the new home page for Espresso 77. Website content must still be in the works, but the page that's up now is very clean and cool overall. I like it. I wonder if this will be the official home page or if they're still working on that.

It reminds of the Esparks coffee homepage. It's alright. It's very hard to maintain a website. I wonder if they plan to sell coffee beans online?
