Baskin and Robbins was owned by a guy named Morty Hova. He was a good man and unfortunately died last year.

Neighborhood Chat / Re: Eagle Theatre to become Supermarket (Daily News)

I think the last thing we need here is another south asian supermarket. My suggestion would be a german beer garden for that space and to beautify the plaza like manhattan.

The following is the 2007 winning entry from an annual contest at Texas A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term.
This year's term: Political Correctness.

"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

Neighborhood Chat / Re: Parasitic cab drivers by the bus terminal
« on: June 29, 2010, 04:14:46 PM »
I think what most people don't understand is that many of these cab drivers are neither properly licensed nor properly insured. Some are just people with a Lincoln towncars or Cadillacs with regular plates or out of state plates that pick up people because they look like Gypsy cabs. God forbid you get into an accident and they have no insurance.

Neighborhood Chat / Parasitic cab drivers by the bus terminal

When I occasionally take a bus at the 75Th street terminal I see gypsy cabs blocking the bus lanes, honking at prospective passengers, soliciting people who are just walking, making illegal u-turns so they are in front of the terminal and when the TLC or cops come they scatter like cockroaches. I think TLC inspectors should be stationed there permanently. Many of these so called cabs have no license and don't even have NY plates.

Jackson Heights of Yesteryear / Old Rock Movies at the Boulevard Theatre
« on: January 19, 2010, 04:01:06 PM »
Does anyone remember seeing Led Zep,Pink Floyd,The Doors and other rock movies there at midnight in the 1970'S? These were the good old days when you could smoke pot or cigarettes and nobody would say anything. I remember not being able to see the guy's head in front of me because of the smoke from the bongs, gas masks,
pipes and cigarettes. How times have changed!

2) A good Jewish Deli

No, as I recall it was on Roosevelt Ave between 79th and 80th Street. It had great food and a backyard.
