Hello Mr. Ecrivain. As it turns out, Wystan is devoted to the Q32, and since his schedule is so irregular it works for him just fine. I have given up on finding a ride and have bought a bike. Old dogs can learn new tricks, it would seem.

I don't relish getting back on the subways, so I'm looking for someone who drives from JH to Manhattan weekday mornings and would like help with expenses. Grand Central area or walking distance. I'm 60, quiet, laid back. Flexible as to time, flexible as to costs. Please contact me directly: chesterkallman@aol.com. Thanks!

I've used Borja Picture Frames, 88-11 31st Avenue, several times and been very pleased. Just had work done on an antique mirror. While the frame selection is limited I've always found something I wanted, and Carlos Borja is a real gentleman. Rates are reasonable.

What a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. If you are vegan, or just dining with vegan friends, they have a separate menu of vegan appetizers and entrees. Everything was top-notch!

This place is charming. Limited bakery goods but all excellent---and the coffee was delicious. Had a pastry made from croissant dough with a bit of guava--great. My friend had a very nice apple turnover. Nice addition to the neighborhood!

I asked the construction crew and they said it would be Colombian.

Heartbroken over this. One of my go-to spots. Can anyone recommend an alternative, with good (or some) vegetarian options?

Yes! Delivery times haven't been a problem but missing items--with no notification--have been a real problem. Makes it difficult to plan a meal or recipe. There has been an improvement in my last few orders.

It's not in this neighborhood, unfortunately, but de Mole in Woodside is a Mexican restaurant with great vegetarian options well beyond just cheese (vegetables, seitan, etc.) http://www.demolenyc.com/

Hi there. I have a few cleaning projects that I need help with (washing window blinds, etc.) Can anyone recommend an individual or a cleaning service? Thank you!

Neighborhood Chat / Re: Blink Fitness
« on: November 07, 2013, 10:31:14 PM »
I work in White Plains, and belong to the Blink there. It's pretty terrific. Complaints about there being no classes, towels, etc. are pretty irrelevant since the gyms are designed to be very basic (and thus the low cost). Their gyms are huge, have tons of equipment (especially cardio), are super clean, and have adequate locker rooms. They are not owned by Equinox, but Equinox does have a share in Blink. I belonged to Equinox in the past and I find Blink to be maintained (and cleaned) as well as Equinox.

I was told that sales for JH will begin in early 2014 with a summer opening. The Astoria gym is opening in December.
