Yes! I'm surprised how little buzz I've seen/heard about this election. I consider myself pretty decently informed on local politics, but I didn't even know about this election until I met Costa in person at the farmer's market last weekend. Mark your calendars and vote, people!

Pets and Animals / Found: orange cat
« on: July 29, 2019, 11:01:44 AM »
This morning my neighbor found a cat with an injured tail in front of Stratford Hall 80-09 35th between 80th and 81st. She followed him to my building (34-37 80th) but kept running to the garden gates as if trying to get in. However, she came right into the building and then my apartment. For a variety of reasons we believe she is a pet, not one of the feral or outdoor cats. I have attached a couple of pics; if she looks familiar or you know the owner please have that person contact Chris at 347-752-0806.

They're having trouble getting her into a carrier, but are trying to take her to a vet to check if she has a microchip.

I've used Forest Hills Electric Contracting twice now and have been very happy with their work! They're quick to respond, and do fast, good work. foresthillselectric@gmail.com

This must be Django's family! Jea's family misses Janet, too. We use Karin for dog walks (no daycare, though). Would welcome any other contacts to have as a backup!

Restaurants & Food / Re: Jax Hts Starbucks closed by NYC Health Dept

I'd still like someone to explain why some people were so opposed to a Starbucks opening in our neighborhood but had no objections to there being a half-dozen Dunkin Donuts franchises.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Dunkin either... But from my understanding, Starbucks is particularly bad because they have some sort of stipulation in their lease that other businesses within a certain radius can't sell coffee. Probably why the old Ingrid's Salon space is still empty...

I too am surprised by some of the negative reviews here. Of course everyone's entitled to their opinion, but my experience at the QB was great! The service was prompt and attentive (no late or forgotten drinks) - silverware was changed for each course, which always impresses me. Cocktails were inventive and tasty. The food was great too; we got the chaat popcorn (which was the only miss for me - not a ton of flavor and hard to eat [fork or fingers?]), watercress salad (PHENOMENAL, very fresh, surprising flavors), marg pizza (delicious, I don't know what everyone's complaining about), burger (average - not the best we've ever had, but certainly not bad), and a fruit cobbler special. Can't wait to try out the other menu items and will definitely be back for brunch, too. I live a block away... this could get dangerous!

Congrats to Dudley and his team on a job well done!
