Personally I’m fed up with the thought police, captain flanel and dss,
possibly the same individuals. It inhibits discussion and chases people off this forum.

I have to say I burst out laughing when I read that comment. I believe LOL is the approved nomenclature.

Does anyone have any reviews of this, opinions? My daughter is thinking of enrolling my granddaughter. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Hi LManiace. You're right of course. The 'Year to date' column title should have been a clue!
Agree on how these figures provide a good perspective.

I note from the article 'she died from surgical complications', following the attack. I hope that's not being used as an excuse not to categorize this as a murder or minimally manslaughter, which is still a homicide.

Yes I knew that, which makes the omission mysterious to say the least.

I've been following COMPSTAT NYC for a long time. I lived in JH in the 80s when the citywide homicide rate was > 2,000. Last year it was 360 or so, and year to date down another 30%, which is very impressive.

However when I look at COMPSTAT for the 115 pct I see no homicides listed for 2015, when I know for a fact there was the murder of an elderly woman on 76/35 in early September last year.

Is that sufficient to cast doubt on these stats or does anyone know of a good reason why that woman's murder has not been categorized as such?

K&L also has a great variety of sandwiches for lunch. I've tried many of them and all were good.

That's very witty! Gave me a good chuckle.

(I meant crabby appletons 'nous sommes tous arepa')

It was my daughter who alerted us to the chicken soup, she devoured it when she was pregnant.

Re City Coffee: if you're into nostalgia, they have a great chicken and rice soup for lunch. I've had two in a go on occasion. It's the same old NY chicken and rice soup recipe I had when I first came to NY in the mid 70s.

I would like to add that my wife and I have always found the staff there charming.

To answer DSSJH's question: we first moved to JH Nov 81 and stayed throughout the eighties. Aircraft noise due to planes taking off over JH, similar to what we experience weekly today, occurred perhaps twice a year then, due to runway closures for maintenance.

Back then we complained about planes landing into La Guardia when it was rainy or foggy, but the noise and disruption was nothing compared to what we have today.

Toddg, I'll take your advice. In fact I suggested to the officer sending the photo to the TLC, he thought it might work.

Took a photo of cab brazenly driving through red light on 35/77 shortly after 1pm yesterday. Can't upload to site - says file too large. License plate is clearly visible. There was a police car parked a few blocks on however they said they can't do anything unless they observe the situation themselves.

Do people think this behavior is getting worse here? That's the second red light runner I saw yesterday, first was at 76/37.
