My roommate and I will be buying new glasses soon and are thinking of trying the Jackson Heights Vision Center at 83-25 37th Ave. Has anyone had any experiences with them? Good quality lenses, good fit? Thanks for any help with this.

Neighborhood Chat / Construction Project at 82nd & Roosevelt
« on: May 07, 2011, 03:38:03 PM »
Does anyone know who has pulled down several stores near the corner of 82nd street and Roosevelt to combine them into a single unit? This is the former news vendor/Carvel/Radio Shack bloc, with the New York Language Institute above it.

The construction project has been going on for months, with no clue as to who's coming in, and I'm itching with curiosity. The news vendor, who is now across the street, says that Duane Reade is returning, but that space doesn't look large enough for them--I don't think. Anyone hear any rumors?

There will be another community shred on Sunday May 15, 2011, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.  City Council Daniel Dromm is bringing back his big shredder truck to the corner of 37th Avenue & 77th Street, in front of the Jewish Center.  Contact info: (718) 803-6373.

Anyone who has taken advantage of this opportunity before knows that it's a great way to rid yourself of thousands of personal papers with personal info on them, like old bank statements or medical/insurance papers, safely in this age of identity theft.

City Councilman Daniel Dromm will be bringing his enormous paper-shredding truck back to Jackson Heights on Saturday morning May 22nd, 2010. He will be in front of the Post Office from 9:30 to 12:30. This is your chance to get rid of a year's worth of junk mail and other identity-theft-inviting materials in thirty liberating seconds.
