Since we haven't heard about archiving options for the site, can we copy some of the "neighborhood FAQs" to this site as a placeholder?

specifically, these pages

What's your favorite lunch deal in Jackson Heights?

A couple of the Thai restaurants have good ones, here's Hug Esan's for example

Any other good deals out there?

“ Coworking Space in Jackson Heights

If you work from home and are getting stir crazy?  Check out our local co-working space.

The Jackson Heights Development Group is a co-working space at 72-24 Broadway on the 4th floor (walk-up).  The office is directly above the 74th Street/Roosevelt Avenue train station where the E, F, R, M and 7 line meet.

The concept is simple we offer a sun-filled office space and a rooftop garden where people can work without all the complexities of running an office.  JHDG pays the bills, cleans weekly and makes sure there is toilet paper in the bathroom and copy paper in the printer so you can focus on your work.  We keep the costs to a minimum.  No security deposit or long term lease, just pay for the months you need the space.

The space can be used in many ways.  You can come most days and just get some work done, you can reserve the space and hold a large meeting at a conference table for up to 14 people, you can have a large presentation meeting for up to 35 people or you can have a wine and cheese on the roof followed by a presentation in the office.

It is a single room with a large conference table, couch and coffee table and an alcove with a desk and a curtain for privacy.  There is a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave & coffee maker.  There is a small bathroom.  The roof garden has WiFi, plugs, a table & chairs, benches and lots of fresh air.  For the joint space to work requires flexibility.  If one of the other members needs to hold a large meeting they must reserve the space and mark it on the office calendar, which closes the office to others, but generally, it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for people to come and go.

If you are interested e-mail NualaODohertyNY@gmail.com or call 646-210-4495”

Community Groups, Activities & Events / TEDx in Jackson Heights?
« on: October 29, 2019, 11:28:37 AM »
A few weeks back there was a TEDx event held at my co-working space (WeWork) in Long Island City, which made me wonder what it would take to hold a similar event in Jackson Heights. TEDx has a lengthy application process but there's also other possible formats like pecha kucha, ignite, etc.
Would anyone be interested in co-organizing something like this?
