Try Golden Star Driving School in Astoria.  The owner and instructor, Joseph Oliveira, is awesome.

That would be no one ever in politics.

Owner/developers are going to do what makes them the most money and unfortunately the kinds of venues that are good for business aren't usually what the community would like to see.  Unless there's a bribe... er, tax abatement involved.

Unfortunately, there aren't any more buildouts for FioS.
This doesn't seem true - I know two (old) buildings in Jackson Heights where FiOS is being installed right now.

You missed the second sentence:  "So, the only way to get FioS in the neighborhood is to move into a new construction where it's been made available or hope that the phone wiring in your building is so bad they end up pulling in fiber with the pleasant side effect that FioS becomes available."

The former is what happened to my old building, and I got that information from the techs that pulled in the fiber.

Unfortunately, there aren't any more buildouts for FioS.  That's pretty much nationwide save for the areas where Verizon sold it off to FrontierNet (Florida for example.)  So, the only way to get FioS in the neighborhood is to move into a new construction where it's been made available or hope that the phone wiring in your building is so bad they end up pulling in fiber with the pleasant side effect that FioS becomes available.  Spectrum, with no competition, is free to do whatever they want.

Always test with a wired connection.

Sometimes I wish everything in Congress required a 2/3 majority.  If a new law, bill, or rule isn't good enough to capture a supermajority then perhaps it's less beneficial or generally acceptable to the population than its proponents assume.  This would also force both parties to compromise and work with each other or they will accomplish nothing, and hopefully then voted out of office.

The number of moral politicians out there can probably be counted on the fingers of one hand.

It's her money, she can do what she wants with it.  I think it's silly, but she isn't the first nor will be the last to spend a lot of money on personal care and appearance.  Including a lot of non-politicians.

Trump lowered my taxes.  I'm not a 1-percenter.

Dementia Donny raised mine, and i'm middle class.

Got caught by the 10K limit to SALT deductions?  If so, that's NY's fault for having really high state and local taxes.

I do believe that it is culturally ingrained in the USA to blame folks for their own poverty.

Other first world nations don't think in the same way. The nation doesn't blame folks for their own poverty.
And so overseas, in first world countries, there is a greater attempt to address poverty issues by the government itself.

I don't think there can be an end to poverty until we, as a society, stop treating poor people like beggars.

Why must everyone look at government to do this?  It never has, and never will do a good job with it.  There are numerous charities that do this kind of work, and do it both effectively and efficiently.  Anyone who wishes can put their money where their mouth is, and donate.

if only we treated corporate welfare recipients that way. anyone who wishes to patronize big oil or airlines can put their money where their mouths are and purchase the products without the rest of us subsidizing those concerns with our tax dollars.

I agree.  There should be no corporate welfare or subsidies of any kind.

She largely ran on the basis of the part of the district that's in the Bronx that was mostly ignored by Crowley over the years.  I guess it depends on whether the buyers' remorse in the Bronx is greater than the satisfaction in Jackson Heights.

Unfortunate yes, but it sounds more like "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes."
