Hi there.
I live in CT and my boyfriend lives in Jackson Heights.
I work near Danbury and when I drive down to JH on Friday afternoons I usually hit traffic on the Hutch and it takes me about 2 hours.  When I drive back to CT on Sunday nights it's about 45 minutes (to Norwalk).  It's do-able but really a question of what you can get used to.
Where in CT is the job?
The pros are that you would be going against traffic but the cons are that mileage is something you can't overcome.
A coworker of mine did the Jackson Heights to CT commute for a few months and I think it was about 1.5 hours to 2.  I can get more info from her if you'd like.
I hope this helped.
Jessica

That was a great smile for my rainy Friday.  Thanks so much!  Unfortunately I found myself agreeing more than I'd like to admit.

The wrap selection isn't anything crazy, but the food is good and very reasonable.
I'm curious about their more "ethnic" food (not quite sure how to say that and be pc).  Has anyone tried anything besides sandwiches/wraps and breakfast food?

I have four tickets to Z100 Zootopia , May 17th at the IZOD Center (formerly Continental Airlines Arena).

I can not go and am hoping to just get back what I paid.

I'm asking $95 each (face is $75 plus ticketmaster fees and all that junk)
Section 215
Row 15
Seats 1-4

These are e-tickets so it's not too late.
Please email me or call (516-859-1927) if you have any questions or are interested.

There are two chinese places on Northern and I can't keep their names straight.  I think one is around 89th and the other is farther west (maybe around the low 80's/high 70's).
We've ordered from both and really liked the one farther west.  However, the past couple of times the food has not been as good.  Maybe it's the place you're referring to because it sounds like a similar situation.
That said, we were looking to try something new.

Has anyone tried Wok's?  We have a menu from there, but couldn't find any reviews/info.

I wanted to post to bring this thread to the top of the list, as I was recently trying to figure out where to get takeout from.

Do you know if JJ's delivers to the 90th/Northern area?

Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

I work in marketing and the big buzz word is SEO (search engine optimization).
I'm not too savvy in this area but I do know that it's all about getting your site to show up at the top of searches.

For example, I did a search for Inspa World (which I knew was mentioned several times in a thread) and the JH result didn't show up until page 7, a spot which very few searchers would ever make it to.
When i searched for Jackson Heights Blog, this site shows up at the bottom of page 1.  Better.

Again, I don't know the exact science but it might be something worth looking in to.  (Unfortunately I do enough procrastinating as is so I can't devote too much time.)

Another suggestion would be to ask everyone who is active to link to the site on any personal pages they have (blogs, myspace, facebook, youtube etc.).

There's my two cents...for now.  8)

Has your boyfriend gone yet?   I'm going to check it out today.  $50 4 an hour is a great price.

No, he hasn't gone yet.  Somehow there's just never enough time for him to find a spare 90 minutes.

Did you make it?  How was it?

If you don't mind going in to Astoria, I've heard good things about this place for massages.  It's on the corner of Ditmars and 31st (easy subway access).

Here's the link on the Astorians site http://www.astorians.com/community/index.php?topic=6717.0

From what I've heard, it's good and reasonable, although I haven't been.  I did get a gift certficate for my bf, but he hasn't used it yet.

Thanks so much for the recommendation.  I'll let you know how it goes.

I also appreciate the heads up on Beauty and Youth...i suspected it might be too good to be true.  I'll pay the extra $5 to keep my skin.   :)

Neighborhood Chat / Waxing?

I've seen lots of posts on threading, but not much on waxing.

Are there any good (inexpensive) waxing places in the area?  Specifically a place that does a good Brazilian.

I know there are quite a few places in the city, but it seems hard to find anything elsewhere.

I've heard that the Beauty and Youth Spa in Chelsea does one for $25 which seems too good to be true.  Has anyone been there?

Thanks!
