Parking available?
« on: December 25, 2010, 12:18:59 PM »
Hi all -

I need to find a garage where I can park my car.  The only one of which I am aware is on 82st and 37av.  Are there any closer to 74st/37av?  Anyone know of any co-op/condo buildings with openings in their garages?  My building has no garage, unfortunately.

I use that spot at 37th and 82nd. They just changed ownership. They charge differently for everyone. Maybe depending on size of the car? Sometimes I think it's too expensive, but then I watch some people try to parallel park in this neighborhood and notice the large amount of scuffed bumpers.

I see some home owners with "parking available" signs in front of their houses. Walk/drive along the street between Roosevelt and 37th in the 70's.

They probably alter their rates more along the lines of how much of a sucker you look like.  I did a little googling and I guess there's an outdoor lot on 75th between roosevelt and 37th.  Never noticed it before.  Did it get replaced with those "luxury" apartments and doctor's offices or something?  It's still on street view.  I want to keep mine indoors if possible but this is also an option, I guess.

Sorry if this is too late.  There's an indoor garage under an apartment building that's located between 74th and 75th St, between 37th and 35th Ave.
That's where I park now, and it looks like half the garage is empty due to the bad economy.  Actually, we tried to negotiate our monthly fee just for that reason, but they didn't budge  :(   I can't seem to find the phone number to call, but if you walk up 75th, you'll see their "Parking Available" sign on the apt building.  You can't miss it.

Oh, about that outdoor lot on 75th between Roosevelt and 37th - they don't allow overnight parking.  We checked before we took the garage.

Hope this isn't too late. Have you found an indoor spot yet? I know of a few relatively inexpensive spots locally if you are still interested.
The prices hours of operation and locations vary slightly according to what size vehicle you need to garage, are you looking for daily monthly or weekly rates, if it is daytime or overnight and how frequently you need to access the vehicle. If you are still looking and you are interested let me know either here or at my email. Happy Holidays to all.

The garage on 82nd/37th charges roughly the same amount (271 before tax, I think).  That 275 includes tax.  It's probably not worth it if you don't have a car that's a target and haven't had issues with people smashing your windows or otherwise vandalizing things.

Exactly - my car was keyed the day we bought it and parked it on the street!  Then someone busted a taillight with a bb gun.  I have peace of mind now with the garage.

$275??? I had been thinking of bringing my car over from Colorado, but wow I didn't really think parking rates were that high. Do you all make 6 figure salaries? How can you afford such fees?

I don't pay $275 at the parking garage on 82nd. Someone's getting jacked.
