Our Family Wedding capitalizes on the issues that inter-ethnic/racial couples face when tying the knot.  While this has been done before I don't know of any that was funnier.  I haven't laugh this much in a while so for this reason alone you should go and see it.  Gross and Ferrera made the oddest couple - I just couldn't see it working.  But, to be fair I have seen much weirder love partners. Warning, those of you with thin skins could be offended by some of the racial overtones but this is what the flick tries to exploit.

If you are looking for a work of art, this is not it.  If you are looking to laugh a lot - go and see it.

I was told my friend to watch a film, but it was (a) a documentary, and (b) about video game battles, so I was skeptical.  But since it was on instant Netflix, I watched The King of Kong:  A Fistful of Quarters.  (www.imdb.com/title/tt0923752/)

It was actually very compelling, and I recommend it.  Especially for those in my generation (child of the 80s) ...

And, semi related (since I can't find the iPhone thread right now) ... iPhone users can download the freeload Netflix app and watch movies on their phones.  For those of us with a 30 minutes bus ride commute, that's quite handy!

Horror movie fans... Guillermo del Toro's remake of the 1973 creepy horror flick, "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark," opens Friday, August 26th.  The original made for TV movie was quite effective in scaring the heck out of me as a kid.  I'm due for another good scare.   ::)
