I've been eating so much Italian food lately that I'm craving Thai food.  I love hot and spicy.  I wonder if Shallot is open for lunch?

Rob, I'm having withdrawals too.  Have you eaten the stuffed chicken wings at Arunee?  they are delicious. Maybe I'll just go there for lunch.

LOL, I hit it today at noon.  Had my usuals though ... pad khing (beef, I'm not a chicken person) and also the L! lunch box.  They know me in there so well, they even put aside extra baby corn for Luc.

Word of Mouth discusses Isaan Thai cuisine and has a very favorable review of Zabb.

   ZABB Queens rates 10 in our house!  The Tom Gai soup with shrimp is sublime.  Their noodle dishes such as  Pad Thai and Pad Khee Mao are simply the best and if you're looking for a lighter dish the Yum Pend Yang or Yum Sram krob salads are spicy and satisfying!  They are also quick to deliver!   When you're in the mood for Thai food call ZABB QUEENS (718) 426-7992 you will not be disapointed!

I wanted to recommend the new Thai restaurant Ayada on Woodside Ave., also mentioned in this New restaurants on Woodside Ave thread and on one of Jeffsayyes's Food group threads.  It's my new favorite Thai in the neighborhood.  Excellent food and well-designed interior.

For further reviews, check out the ones on yelp .  So far 10 reviews with an average rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

very good, very accurate reviews -- though arharn has been in astoria for 15 years at least.

lately, i've been enjoying sabay on roosevelt....they don't require begging to bring on the spice.

I def respect sabay, they barely get any write-up though. Since their remodeling, I feel like they've turned it up.
it might be because they aren't that noticeable in their location. might be b/c it's so bright over there

Had lunch at Thailand's Center Point today (Friday).  Everything was fresh, flavorful and light.  No overly sweet sauces, it was all balanced--sweet, sour, spicy, salty-- and really seemed like home cooking.  The people there were very nice and attentive.  I love the Thai restaurants in the area and I will definitely go back to this one.  It's a small place that's half-store, half-restaurant.  Like so many of the best ethnic places in Queens it's family run and reminiscent of the great local restaurants back in the day before they remodeled and became darlings of the Manhattan crowd.

I was about to ask where it's located, but I found chuckster's link to the review and see that it's at 63-19 39th Avenue, Woodside, 718-651-6888.  I definitely want to try this place!

Serious Eats, New York covers the not so vegetarian friendly food options at Woodside's Sripraphai.  Fish sauce, an ingredient in many Thai dishes seems to be a problem for vegetarians.  This brings up an interesting thought.  How authentic is the food minus the fish sauce?  Is flavor sacrificed?

I went to SriPraPhai yesterday with coworkers to celebrate / send off my boss. I was impressed, the lunch special is awesome; $13.50 soup/salad, appetizer, entree and beverage. The patio is also very nice, and we took a group picture there even though it was starting to rain. The wait staff was a little disorganized, in that our soup and appetizer came out at the same time, and three poeple got the same entree to varying degrees of spiciness and we could never figure out which was which. Not a big deal; the food more than made up for it.
