Such a shame. I was hoping the Eagle could come back as a film/theatre/arts facility or a YMCA.

I hope that the Rite-Aid will at least have open windows, rather than those horrible photo-montages that close off the building to the street in other locations.

Why is there a Rite Aid on the corner of 83nd and 37th AND one on 82nd between 37th and Roosevelt? It blows my mind. And reminds me of the Lewis Black bit of a Starbucks directly across the street from another Starbucks.

I'd rather a Walgreens than a freaking Rite Aid anyday.   >:(

Both the locations that FoxyWiles mentioned above are INFURIATING to deal with.  Any time I have to go into either one I feel like I lose brain cells waiting on line while the incompetent cashiers putz around.  Also the one on 82nd Street seems to smell really bad most of the time.

I really, really love the Walgreens on 79th & Northern and sorta-kinda miss living so close to it before I moved to 77th. The store is immaculate comparitively & the selection is better.

Blahhh.  But yeah, BEST CASE SCENARIO would have been what Marcus mentioned.

I'm not apt to believe the anonymous rantings of someone who seems to think everything that goes on in JH is part of some grand political conspiracy. The fact is, we don't know what, if anything, is going in to the Eagle space. Speculation and rumor don't help the matter.

haha at your first sentence, too funny. I actually find Queens crap a very informative and entertaining website. It's going to be in the know at times.

Same here, I usually go to the one on the corner of Broadway/51st Ave,but sometimes it gets really packed and the lines
at the register move sooo slow. Being open 24/7 is a big plus. I do go to the Rite Aid on Queens Blvd/58th St only when I
am passing through as a matter of convenience.

For all of you old timers in the neighborhood I miss Rockbottom Pharmacy on the corner of 74th St/37th Ave,it had 2 floors and a huge selection.

I guess I'm lucky to be living in the upper 80's on 34th Ave because I have no complaints with the RiteAid on 88th and Northern.  Location...location...location!!!!!!!! ;)

At the risk of sounding like a super old timer, I loved Rockbottom andeven remember when pre-that, it was a Courtesy Drug store.

But that mirrored pit as you went down the stairs used to freak me out a bit ...

The Rite Aids on 82nd and 37th are totally useless.  Has anyone been to the CVS on northern in the 70s? (Can't remember the exact location, I want to say 75-ish).  Who has the most competent pharmacists in the area?

That was it.

Courtesy become Rockbottom became Duane Reade then Commerce Bank (now TD).

The Duane Reade relocation was over the site of the Key Food on 37th, but there was a second Key Food on 74th itself (yes half a block away in the 1980s, that became the Indian supermarket).

I used to shop at that Key Food on 74th st as a kid, just prior to it closing it used to be dead.
Once when I was shopping inside I overheard a delivery guy saying sarcastically to his helper
"oh boy this store is a real powerhouse." Then a few years later the other Key Food on 37th Ave
closed down. That one was bigger and busier if I remember correctly. Profit margins are very slim
for supermarkets,I believe they make 1 cent on every dollar in sales. You would do much better
owning a 7-11 franchise.
