I heard this rumor this morning! I know that space has a full basement (the old Woolworth had all the good stuff downstairs). Could this be true?

Haven't checked the hot bed of rumor over on the JHFamilies site yet.

Wasn't the previous rumor that the ABC Discount store was going to move into the old Duane Reade spot?  ECG, I hope the rumor is true, and as Buddy mentioned, the store is pretty large and does have the downstairs.  It's was strange walking into the Duane Reade and not be greeted by the staircase leading to the lower level.
The Chuckster has spoken!

Keeping my fingers crossed. Space is conducive to B & N. Quite frankly I thought that ABC moving down the block to pay, (I'm sure) more rent, made no sense. ABC is too large to market the merchandise they have. We really need a decent men's clothing store. I don't know where to buy a decent pair of dress pants, a 100% cotton dress shirt, a silk tie .

BTW I checked out Limoncello. It's in a rather odd spot. But it's a cute little Italian Restauran, not formal, but I guess the word is cute. Should be on 37 Ave, but I'm sure the rents are prohibitive. I remember a pizzeria/restaurant many moons ago called Joey D's on 82 on the other side of Roosevelt. I use to go there after rehearsals at St. Joan of Arc musicals that used to be given there in the 1970's.

I asked a lady who worked at ABC almost a month ago if they would be moving to the Duane reade space and she said yes but it will not be for a while.  I sure hope things have changed and the Barnes and noble rumor is true.  How great would that be?

Not to say that I have not found some great buys at ABC.  i bought a 6 dollar top I absolutely love there last summer as well as an awsome 10 dollar dress.  I get compliments and everyone thinks I paid much much more for them.

If not the JHFamilies Web site, what is the source of the rumor, and is he or she reliable?

Hi,

The source is a neighbor who heard it from another neighbor. Both seem to be reliable people, but I will have to track down the first person to see where she heard it.

I was hoping that one of the rest of you had heard something other than ABC in order to verify or stop dreaming.

Nobody on JHfamilies has heard anything new, at least as of 10 minutes ago.

We need someone savvy in the deciphering of Dept. of Building permits.

Just kidding.

Rumors about individuals hurt others. Rumors about events disappoint.

Let's wait for the facts because they are much more interesting. (Although it is fun to fantasize)
