Steinway piano factory tours in Astoria
« on: January 02, 2008, 06:00:56 PM »
I think this might be the closest available factory tour to us in JH -
it's the famous Steinway piano factory.

This is from an email from them:
"We schedule tours of the factory every Monday and Tuesday - the tour officially starts at 9:30 AM and ends at around Noon. Due to our very busy schedule tours do have to be booked well in advance."

However, some of the dates I was offered were less than 2 weeks from the date of the email, which doesn't seem too bad.

All you have to do to book a tour is email info@steinway.com and they will send you information on what to do.

My mother is a pianist and has always wanted to see the Steinway factory.  She's scheduled to do the tour with my father next month.  Afterwards, I'll let you know their thoughts!

The piano factory is adding an amazing solar thermal energy system on its roof, the largest of its kind in the world.  I hope they add that to the tour!
