We saw one at Juniper Park about a month ago on a Saturday when we went sleding.  The park was full of people, full of snow and a Hawk graced us with his presence.  He was looking at all the kids and families having fun.  I think he is the one that lives in the cementery by the Kmart mall.

I've never seen the hawk in Flushing and I look, and look, I have seen Lola and Pale male almost every time I go to Central park.  I even saw one on 86th and Riverside Park.

Scrabble is a buddy of mine I have see him often.

The first time I saw him was 4 years ago when I had my son sitting in the toddler swing section in Travers Park.  He swooped from tree to tree not to high above us.  I could feel the weight of air his huge wings made as he flew overhead and the sound was like in the movies, like a dragon flying.  I loved it.  We always look for him at the park.

I have even seen him from the #7 platform on 82nd street.  Just look high up and if you see pigeons scattering to the four winds, it is because they spotted a hawk.

They're back!  I've heard them for the last two weeks, but yesterday was my first sighting of the season.

When and where did you take this Photo?

What kind of camera did you use for this shot?
Time is running out!

The hawks regularly visit the trees behind our building (The Griswold @34th/87th).  The camera is a Nikon D200 with a 55-300mm lens.  I got a few shots this morning that I'll post post-turkey celebrations.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Do you go in search for them or just by chance stumbled across them?  I heard a bunch of crows around Nov also.  One time, I think I saw a murder of crows (hehe.  look it up.  :)) being chased away by a different kind of bird on the roof tops near the Methodist church on 82nd & 35th Ave.  Possibly one of these hawks.

We don't search for the redtail or the coopers hawks.  They seem to like the trees on our block and return every winter.  Crows and bluejays gain strength in numbers and sometimes chase them away.

Here's an image from this morning during the blustering rain and winds.

I went out a few days ago and as soon as I reached the area, I spotted one of the red-tails on a roof top.   ;D   I tried getting a closer shot, but it isn't easy chasing a bird from the ground.
