I’ve lived in JH all my life and went to PS69. They’ve always been there and have not bothered longtime residents. Please stop trying to turn our neighborhood into the small towns that you’re from. If it really grinds your gears maybe you should run for office. #gohome

Why are you being so nasty? I am BORN AND RAISED in New York City.

1. They have not always been there, and certainly not in the quantity that are there now.
2. They do, in fact, bother long time residents including many residents who have been here since before you were probably even born.
3. You have no idea where the people who are posting on this thread come from, and not assume that they come from small towns in Nebraska. Many people who have grown up in NYC, as well as other cities, like to make at least an attempt to keep our communities clean and safe.
4. Just because something was the norm in the past, does not make it significantly or necessarily good.

Number 4 is spot on. As are the others.

Hopefully we aim towards a better life and environment....all of us. Not a life of self destruction and surrounded by those who choose it.

It’s a shame that we can’t have nice things in this neighborhood. Maybe the solution would be to remove the benches from in front of the post office . Or maybe we can flood the 115 precinct with calls to clear these men out . I live on 79th street and while there was always one or two vagrants on the benches , the number has gone up exponentially and quickly. The word is out that you can lay around and drink all day in front of the school without anyone hassling you. It’s a disgrace .

I apologize for sharing my point of view. If I’m not mistake since the creation of this forum, if not most past users have essentially complained about Jackson Heights not being clean! Too loud!!! Not enough book stores!!! Not enough big box stores!!! We don’t want it to be Austin street!! Those mannequins!!! 74th street is a dump!!! The carts!!! The gangs!!! The parks!!! I’m sure it can go on. But all these issues have essentially been addressed not over night but gradually. So I applaud you for killing the “CHARM!” in the neighborhood. As we make sure to conserve the garden apartment aspect of it, but gradually strip it of its ethnic cultures. THE RENT IS TOO DAMN HIGH!

It’s a form of colonizing but on a smaller scale. Cheers to you!

Watching a group of men slowly poison and destroy themselves on a street corner is an odd definition of "charm".

Well I hope you have found it in your heart and extended help to them. Or at least them know how you’ve felt. At this rate sounds like we’re talking about an exhibit.

Colonization exactly. Well don’t sweat it it’ll be taken care of eventually. Just like everything else you’ve vented about since 2015. Cheers to change!

Alcoholism is a disease. Just like cancer. If they had cancer, then they should go to Elmhurst hospital. To the experts. Folks who are not experts in alcoholism or cancer...should leave the treatment of diseases to the experts.

Colonization is irrelevant to this fact. And you are mixing the two incorrectly.

That you’ve been complaining about the state of JH since 2015?

That instead of helping just venting on the local forum about how much the drunk Latin men in front of a post office has been grinding your gears since you landed in our neighborhood? But lack compassion?

If you have enough time to respond to my messages you have enough time to leave you’re co-op apt and help another human life.

I’ll be looking forward to your next post “Bring back the golf course to Jackson Heights!”

 ;D ;D ;D

Now I seriously bid ya farewell I’ll be back in a few years thanks for the affirmation!  :-*

Yes. The times I learned all about hypocritical Marxists who own private property. Those were the days.
